Chapter 3 Stay Away From Me
- KIMBERLY'S POV
- For a while, we just stared at each other. And it was the best and the funniest feeling I had ever felt.
- But suddenly, he seemed to have come back to his senses. His eyes turned cold, and before I knew it, he pushed me off him.
- I struggled a bit to stabilize myself. When I looked up at him again, he looked like he wanted to squeeze the life out of me.
- I shivered for a second and looked away from him. I decided to focus on the road ahead.
- But I didn't understand why he would look so glum when it was only an accident. I wasn't the one driving, for heaven's sake.
- There was a threatening silence in the car for a few seconds. I could see the driver looking in the back nervously through the rear-view mirror.
- “Be careful next time!" The Lycan Prince warned, and the driver hurriedly nodded his head.
- They all seemed so scared of him. I wondered if what everyone said was true. Maybe he was very dangerous.
- I was still in my thoughts when he turned his head to look at me. I moved my lips and swallowed hard.
- His eyes were red and dark. His face was scrunched up. I began wondering how he even lived around people.
- “Do you think whoever installed the safety seat belts was a fool?” He asked. And my eyes moved to look at myself. I hadn't fastened the belt.
- I bit my lips, anger rising in my chest. It was just a safety belt. Did he have to speak up like that?
- I tried to ignore him and fastened the belt, then I looked out of the window. But his gaze was still on me.
- “Unless you did it intentionally…” he muttered, his voice full of hate and detest.
- I turned to look at him with furrowed brows. “What? You think I fell on you on purpose?” I asked. The thought of it alone made me sick.
- He could be handsome and powerful, but he was inhuman. To add to his cruelty, I didn't think I would ever want anything to do with him.
- “I have to warn you,” he continued, speaking up. “I have seen more beautiful girls with more advanced tricks. This little one doesn't move me. It is low and humiliating.”
- I cursed in my head and shut my eyes tight. I was praying hard not to do anything that would get me killed.
- I was one person who always acted on impulse. But I always did all these because I knew that I had people to protect me.
- I was alone now, and I knew that the devil seated next to me could do anything.
- After I had calmed down a bit, I looked at him. “You think so much of yourself, don't you?” I asked.
- The driver coughed up again. Only this time, he was very careful not to sway the car.
- But I didn't care about him. I looked back at the Lycan Prince. His brows had furrowed dangerously.
- I was scared, but I tried to be as calm as possible as I stared back at him. “My dad said this is only a one-year contract,” I said.
- And the Lycan Prince nodded. “Yeah, it is. And as much as I hate it, there is nothing I can do about it. So, I want you to know your place, little human. Stay as far away from me as possible. And if you will be alive at the end of the period, I want you out of my pack house, and I don't want to ever see you again.”
- I was stunned for a second. I didn't expect him to say so much. It could only mean that his hatred for me was very deep.
- I sighed after a while and nodded my head. “Well, that's the best I could ever think of,” I said. “I will stay out of your sight and out of your business. I don't want to marry you either. I wouldn't do it even if I'm paid.”
- “Be very careful with what you are going to say next, human!” He suddenly growled, and I held my breath.
- It felt like I had gone out of line. But he deserved it.
- So I lay back on my seat and decided not to speak anymore. I wasn't even at the pack house yet. I didn't want to die so early.
- For the rest of the journey, none of us said anything.
- I held my breath when we approached the pack house. I could see the huge and tall walls surrounding it.
- The gate was also very big, and there were guards almost everywhere as we drove in.
- I immediately lost hope. This place looked like a trap, and I didn't know when I would ever get out.
- But I was stunned by the arrangement of the pack house.
- When I first heard about a pack house, all I imagined was an old dilapidated single room in the middle of the forests.
- But this one looked like a city. There were taller buildings, better than the ones we had back in Brighton. They were all nice and well-maintained.
- There were lawns, flowers and trees that were all well-maintained. I was shocked, and I couldn't help but stare for a while longer.
- The girl from earlier, whose name was Gillian, was standing not very far away from the second gate. The other men were there too.
- When we got out of the car, they started laughing at me again. “Look at her! She is a country bumpkin. She has never seen such a place before,” Gillian said.
- “How poor is she? I can't imagine she is impressed by this place,” another one said.
- The rest continued laughing. They were making fun of me about how poor and stupid I was.
- But I ignored them once again and walked after the Lycan Prince. He was heading to the house at the farthest corner of the compound. It was painted grey, and it looked more magnificent and stood out among the rest.
- At the entrance, there were two guards. They immediately opened the door when we got close. The Lycan Prince walked past them without saying anything. I sighed deeply.
- In the main hall, servants were waiting in a line. Their heads were bowed. I sighed again. I didn't understand why one would want that much attention.
- “Marina,” The Lycan Prince called, and a young girl, almost my age, stepped forward. She bowed her head respectfully. “Sir,” she said.
- “You will be in charge of her. Show her to her room,” the Lycan Prince said and began walking away.
- Marina looked at me with a smile. It felt like she didn't hate me like the rest of the people that I had met. But I told myself that it was too early to judge.
- After all, she was not one of my kind. She would always take the side of her own people. “I'm Marina, an omega. I'll show you to your room, ma'am,” Marina said respectfully.
- I nodded at her, but I felt this kind of loneliness. I wished there was even one person who was my kind.
- Suddenly, my phone beeped. I took it out to check. I thought that maybe it was my dad. But I furrowed my brows when I saw a text message from an unknown number. 'Seems like you are in need of allies, Kimberly Stone.'
