Chapter 6 If I Am a Man, I Will Marry You!

  • "By the way, are you the only one taking care of the children? Why do you seem haggard? You look like a middle-aged woman."
  • Mia immediately protested, "Mommy is a beautiful woman. She is not old but deliberately disguised like this. Otherwise, a lot of men would ask her out."
  • Zoey was glad to hear that. "Your mother is beautiful. She was famous for her beauty when she was younger."
  • "Alright, Zoey. Let's go to your home. I have something to ask you." Roxana suddenly stopped smiling and turned serious.
  • Zoey did not have to ask to know what she was talking about.
  • She wanted to talk about the matter concerning the Pace family. Everything happened too quickly those years ago. No one knew things would turn out this way.
  • I don't know how Roxana survived it all. Anyone would have fallen into despair if they were in her place.
  • Later, at Zoey's house in Third District, Roxana coaxed Mia to sleep while Eidan earnestly studied a map on the balcony.
  • Zoey glanced at Eidan curiously before following Roxana into another room.
  • "Can your son read maps? He's only five years old!"
  • "He can. He knows how to read it since he was three."
  • Roxana's answer prompted Zoey to beat her chest and exclaim, "Gosh, he's a genius!"
  • "Zoey, about the Pace family…"
  • Zoey felt a pang in her heart as she heard her best friend's solemn tone. "Roxana, it's been five years. You shouldn't dwell on it anymore. After the Pace family went bankrupt, the Osborn family bought all of the Pace family's properties."
  • Zoey noticed a flash of sadness in her best friend's eyes and felt even worse. She paused and was reluctant to continue speaking because what she was about to say would add to Roxana's sorrow.
  • "Roxana, your father passed away in prison two years ago, and your mother went missing. Furthermore, Osborn Group purchased Pace Group at a low price. They exploited the situation and gained considerable benefits for themselves."
  • "I see," Roxana muttered softly and clasped her hands tightly. Her pupils darkened as she gave off a chilling aura.
  • Zoey was stunned by Roxana's cold demeanor. She had always known Roxana to be a gentle person and did not know she was capable of making such a cold expression.
  • Roxana had stayed in England for five years. During this period, Roxana had only contacted Zoey a few times. Thus, Zoey did not know much about her life there.
  • "Roxana, Mia said you deliberately disguised yourself like a middle-aged woman." Zoey immediately talked about something else. She felt uncomfortable seeing Roxana's cold expression.
  • Roxana pulled down her hair tie, letting her long hair flow down her back and reach her waist. She put down the old-fashioned golden-rimmed glasses and took out a small bottle from her bag. Then, she used it to remove the makeup on her face.
  • In less than a minute, Roxana returned to her usual appearance. Zoey stared at her with her mouth agape. It was so wide that one could even stuff an egg in there.
  • "People put on makeup to beautify themselves. Yet, you learned makeup to make yourself look ugly." Zoey could not help but lament inwardly about how unfair life was.
  • After five years, Roxana was still as beautiful as ever. Her beauty was so great that it seemed to pale everything around her. Furthermore, the years added even more charm to her beauty, such that one could not bear to look away from her.
  • "Roxana, if I were a man, I would definitely marry you!" Zoey excitedly jumped as she spoke, causing her dress to flutter.
  • "Forget it. Can you introduce any multinational companies to me? I would like to apply for work." Roxana glanced at Zoey and turned on the nearby laptop.
  • Zoey suddenly stopped moving. "Sigh, it's a pity that you are already taken and are a mother of two children. Tell me, which handsome foreign man was lucky enough to marry you."
