Chapter 25

• Upon arriving in her room, Poppy reached for her phone, feeling guilty about her actions with Harvey. She knew she had done something wrong by engaging in this behind Nathan's back. She had kissed the same man several times, someone who wasn't even her partner. She was unsure if this could be considered cheating, as she wasn't entirely clear on what constituted infidelity. But she wasn't ready to face the reality of what had happened to her. She might have started her relationship with Nathan with discipline and optimism, committed to being faithful. However, lately, she had come to realize that, in practice, she had been unfaithful.
• She recognized her mistake in how she had initially denied and categorized her closeness with the opposite sex as mere friendship and companionship. She had never intended for it to be this way. She had convinced herself that Harvey was just her boss. Yet, she now realized that it had gone beyond that. They had ended up in passionate kisses on several occasions. She had always denied and told Nathan that Harvey was just a colleague. But it was more than that. The brunches, lunches, dinners, and overtime work, as well as the growing closeness and exchange of thoughts, had led to this point.
• She had even ignored Nathan's calls in front of Harvey, giving her the impression that she was keeping her relationship with Harvey a secret, creating an exclusive world between her and him. In other words, she was walking the path of infidelity.
