  • "How do I go about it, sir?" Poppy asked, looking at her boss as she presented the investment MOU. MOU, which stands for Memorandum of Understanding, is related to their investment cooperation plan. Honestly, this was the first time Poppy was working on an investment MOU for a new startup, which was related to online sales.
  • "What do you mean, 'how'?" Harvey asked, looking at Poppy, his secretary. She had a beautiful face, full lips, perfectly sculpted eyebrows. She was wearing a chiffon blouse and a short pencil skirt that exposed her smooth calf. Since they returned from New York, Poppy seemed to be avoiding him. He knew he was wrong for having kissed her recklessly. Now she really wanted to keep her distance, and their relationship was strictly professional, just coworkers. He had noticed her boyfriend, Nathan, picking her up in the lobby a few times.
  • Honestly, he wasn't the type of guy who liked to interfere in relationships that were clearly committed. He also considered his relationship with Poppy to be purely professional. No matter how often she stayed late with him, they were just working, not engaging in an affair.
  • "I don't know, sir, that's why I'm asking you. I couldn't find any examples of an investment MOU for this startup," Poppy said, looking confused. It was almost five o'clock, and Harvey was still instructing her to work on this. She could see that Harvey was still focused on his work.
  • "Well, I don't care, but the result has to be as I mentioned earlier. Use this data, and get it done now. I have a client meeting tomorrow afternoon," Harvey provided budget and timeline data to Poppy.
  • "I thought you knew, this is so frustrating," Poppy muttered under her breath.
  • Harvey looked at Poppy, his face quite serious. "However you do it, you have to make it as good as possible. Just think about it yourself."
  • "Okay, after this, I'm resigning," Poppy yelled in her mind.
  • Poppy took a deep breath and looked at Harvey again. She thought he was becoming more irritating by the day. "Maybe I should ask someone else, sir," Poppy said.
  • "Sure, that's up to you. I want it done by tonight," Harvey replied, still watching Poppy, who looked puzzled.
  • Poppy then left Harvey's office and headed downstairs using the stairs. She knew where she would ask for help. She went to the public relations department. Poppy saw that the PR team's cubicles were empty, with only a few finance and marketing staff still busy with their work.

  • "Do you see Mrs. Bella?" Poppy asked, addressing the others.
  • "She just got back," Reza replied, shutting down his computer and getting ready to leave.
  • Poppy reached for her phone in her jacket pocket and looked for Bella's number. She placed the phone to her left ear. The connection sounded, and a moment later, Bella answered.
  • "Yes, Pop," Bella's voice came through the speaker.
  • "Where are you?" Poppy asked, sitting in an empty chair.
  • "I'm on the road, stuck in traffic, why?" Bella observed the cars and motorcycles in front of her.
  • "Do you have the investment MOU file for the startup?"
  • "I do."
  • "Can you send it to me?"
  • "Well, I'm on the road and can't turn back. How about this, you can open my computer. It's there; just enter my password."
  • "What's the password?" Poppy asked.
  • "The password is 'TemanTidur,' with a capital 'T,' Pop."
  • "Alright, I'm heading to your cubicle now."
  • Poppy sat in Bella's chair, powered on the computer, and waited for the screen to come to life. She entered Bella's password, and the desktop appeared. Poppy called Bella again.
  • "Yes, Pop?" Bella answered.
  • "Which folder should I check?" Poppy asked, as there were too many folders.
  • "It's on the desktop. Look for a folder with 'MOU startup' written on it," Bella directed her friend.
  • Poppy then sent the file to her email address since she had forgotten her flash drive. Afterward, she shut down Bella's computer. Poppy was relieved to have finally obtained the file she needed. She returned upstairs and glanced at her round watch, which showed it was 5:30 PM. She heard her phone vibrating.
  • "Nathan Calling."
  • Poppy took a deep breath; she had already informed Nathan that she would be coming home late. She slid the green button on the screen and put her phone to her left ear.
  • "Yes, Nat?" Poppy greeted as she climbed the stairs.
  • "You're not home yet?" Nathan asked.
  • "No, not yet. I'm working late because I have a lot to do," Poppy replied.
  • "You're working late again. What exactly is your job?" Nathan inquired.
  • "I have a lot of tasks, like working on MOUs, proposals, handling incoming letters, and taking care of clients," Poppy tried to explain to Nathan.
  • "I'm in front of your building. Do you want to come home together?" Nathan asked.
  • "No, I can't, Nat. I still have a lot of work. You go ahead, and I'll take a taxi home later," Poppy responded.
  • "Aren't you spending time with your boss again?" Nathan questioned.
  • "No, I'm not."
  • "That's why you keep working late almost every day."
  • "Well, that's the reality, Nat. Why would I lie to my own boyfriend?"
  • "Okay, then. I won't pick you up later because I have to take Indra to the airport."
  • "Alright."
  • The call ended abruptly. Nathan didn't like it when Poppy worked late like this, but it was her job, and she felt a strong sense of responsibility. Her parents also didn't object to her working late. She wanted to be an independent woman without being controlled by her boyfriend. She didn't care if Nathan objected and told her to resign; she remained determined to be a secretary. Her journey to this position had been quite long.
  • Poppy entered her office and saw Harvey still busy with his work. She returned to her desk, opened her email, and accessed the file from Bella. She began to study the MOU so that if Harvey asked her about it, she would be prepared.
  • Poppy started filling in all the available data, changing the investor's capital, and inputting investment figures in the "purpose and intent" section. She filled in the profit distribution according to the data provided by Harvey. She immersed herself in the task, fully absorbed in the data.
