  • She should’ve avoided him after the locker room. She should’ve stayed with the squad, focused on the next cheer stunt, the sponsors, the interviews. But the second his eyes found hers again — across the practice field, behind the bleachers, in the corner of the hotel bar — she knew she was fucked.
  • He’d said they were done. That last time in the locker room was supposed to break the spell — make them both snap back to reality. Instead, it only snapped the last thread of control he had left.
  • It was late when she found him again. Late enough that the hotel bar was empty, the staff clearing glasses, the rest of the team asleep or pretending to be. She didn’t mean to look for him. But when she stepped into the dim light of the hallway, she caught his reflection in the glass door.
