Chapter 8 Into The Shadows
- A low growl sent a shiver through me, freezing me in my tracks. My heart raced as I tried to see through the thick shadows. We were not alone—Julian had been right about that. Something was hiding in the darkness at the temple's entrance, waiting and watching us.
- “Asher,” I whispered, my voice barely a sound, but I knew he heard me. He stood in front of me, tense, his eyes scanning the trees. He shifted slightly, ready to react if anything got too close. Julian was next to him, looking calm, but I noticed his fingers flexing as if he was bracing for trouble.
- “I hear it,” Asher said, his voice low and steady, but I could feel the tension underneath.
