Chapter 22

  • I was awakened by the piercing sound of the damn iron.
  • "I'm unemployed," I had to get out of the middle of the bed; it was too small for the three of us. I went into the living room to find my cell phone, which I hadn't even taken out of my purse yesterday. I turned off the alarm and asked the phone to forget for a long time that I have to get up early. I climbed back into the middle of our little sanctuary. Even our lark, Aaron, didn't mind sleeping a little longer.
  • I don't know how much time passed, but soon the phone in the living room was making nasty noises again, this time a harsh guitar solo mercilessly waking us up.
