Chapter 7 Inevitable Confrontation Between Enemies

  • After listening to what her daughter said, Grace lifted her head and looked out into the distance. Sure enough, a small car was speeding toward her.
  • The moment the car came to a stop, Kayleigh flew out of it eagerly and lunged straight into her arms. “Mommy, I missed you so much!”
  • Hugging her daughter, she said, “I missed you too.”
  • Dylan got out of the car and opened the door for both of them. “Get in the car first before you talk. This place is still within the Knight Residence. We must be careful not to be recorded by the surveillance cameras.”
  • Upon hearing those words, Grace hurriedly picked her daughter up and got into the car.
  • Inside the car, Noah gave her a thumbs-up sign. “Mommy, your performance today was amazing! You managed to stop Sister No.8’s temper tantrum!”
  • Then, she frowned. “Did you infiltrate the Knight Residence’s surveillance system again?”
  • Christopher is a cautious man and does things carefully. If Noah continues to hack into the Knight Residence’s surveillance system, again and again, I’m afraid Christopher might catch on sooner or later.
  • Noticing that his mom was angry, he immediately changed his tone and threw himself into her arms. “Mommy, it’s your first time entering the Knight Residence, so we were very worried about you. That’s why I infiltrated the Knight Residence’s surveillance system.”
  • She saw how he was trying to get into her good graces and rubbed his head helplessly. “I’m worried that you’ll be discovered by the Knight Family and it’ll disrupt all our plans.”
  • In response, he lifted his head and confidently answered, “Don’t worry, Mommy. Even if they noticed it, they won’t be able to trace it back to me.”
  • Dylan, who was driving, glanced at them through the rearview mirror and said, “Grace, don’t scold Noah too much. With his skills, I don’t think the Knight Family has anybody under them that could discover him at the moment.”
  • “Dylan, it wasn’t easy for me to get closer to Molly. We should err on the side of caution.”
  • “Well, that makes sense. Don’t worry; I’ll keep a tight watch on Noah in the future.”
  • Noah glared at Dylan discontentedly. “Uncle Dylan, aren’t you too easily swayed?! We had a deal!”
  • A smile appeared at the corners of Dylan’s mouth. “But now, I feel that what your mom is saying makes more sense.”
  • Thus, Noah rolled his eyes. “Hmph; you bootlicker.”
  • On the third day after they returned, Grace received a call from the butler of the Knight Family, asking her to go to the Knight Residence every Friday and Sunday morning to make desserts for Molly.
  • Everything was going well and she could finally openly and honestly visit her daughter. Thus, she let out a long sigh of relief.
  • “Mommy, are you going to go and make desserts for Sister No.8 every week?” Kayleigh asked, hugging her and looking reluctant to let her go.
  • In response, she pinched her daughter’s nose. “I’ll come home as early as possible to play with you.”
  • Noah carried his bag and held Kayleigh’s hand as he said, “It’s not like Mommy is going to go there every day. It’s only Friday and Sunday mornings. We need to go to the kindergarten obediently. That way, Mommy won’t have to worry about us. Then, she can come up with a solution to get Molly back as soon as possible.”
  • As school was only starting in September, Grace had requested Dylan to enroll Noah and Kayleigh into a kindergarten.
  • Kayleigh let go of Grace’s hand and nodded obediently. “Okay, I’ll do as you say, Noah. Mommy, do your best! You don’t need to worry about us.”
  • Pleased, Grace pulled both Noah and Kayleigh into her arms as she hugged and kissed them.
  • On Friday morning, she woke up early in the morning. First, she sent Kayleigh and Noah to their kindergarten; then, she took a cab to the Knight Residence.
  • She got out of the car outside the Knight Residence. Then, she heard Molly wailing in the distance before she could even enter the residence.
  • “No! I don’t want to be separated from Mommy! I want Mommy!” Molly was crying heartbreakingly.
  • Grace was shocked. As she prepared to rush inside, she suddenly heard Bethany’s voice saying, “Christopher, even if you’ve gotten the custody rights and guardianship of Molly, you can’t be so cruel as to prevent us mother and daughter from meeting each other! Molly is still so young; she needs a mother’s love.”
  • Then, Christopher’s frigid voice came through the metal gates. “A mother’s love? Molly doesn’t need a mother’s love like yours.”
  • In the past, he had been considerate of Molly’s feelings. Therefore, he had tolerated Bethany for three years. However, he couldn’t have imagined that she would raise Molly to be so arrogant, tyrannical, prideful, and impolite. If things continued as they did, Molly would become a lost cause.
  • “Mommy! I want Mommy! Daddy, you big bully! I won’t ever love you again!” Molly cried even harder.
  • “Mr. Reeves, bring Molly inside,” he said sharply.
  • Mr. Reeves was the Knight Family’s butler. He had worked for them for nearly 20 years and was very loyal. Upon hearing Christopher’s instruction, he immediately carried the screaming Molly and went upstairs.
  • Bethany seemed like she had not given up, saying, “Christopher, look at how pitiful she is. Please let me meet her! Even if it’s only once a week, that’s good enough.”
  • “There’s no need for that. From now on, Molly has nothing to do with you anymore and the Knight Family does not welcome your presence here.”
  • “Christopher, those words of yours are too heartless! What did I do wrong? I was the one that brought Molly back with me. Moreover, I’ve always regarded her as my biological daughter. What you’re saying really upsets me,” Bethany sobbed, starting to cry again.
  • “I’m very grateful to you for bringing Molly back. So, I will give 20% of MoonMoon Home’s shares to the Johnson Family as a sign of my gratitude. With that, our families do not owe each other anything anymore.”
  • After the Knight Group acquired a well-known online home improvement website, they restructured the company, established MoonMoon Home Improvement Company, and entered the interior designing industry.
  • Bethany looked like she had something else to say, but Christopher interrupted her impatiently, “I’ve said all there is to say. Don’t even think about meeting Molly again in the future. Mr. Reeves, please see her out.”
  • A few minutes later, Bethany was disgracefully chased out of the residence.
  • At the same time, Grace happened to arrive at the doors of the Knight Residence. All of a sudden, Bethany suddenly stopped her as they were passing by each other. “Hey, you; wait a moment.”
