Chapter 4 Meeting Molly

  • “Can you find out where Molly is right now?” Grace asked after taking a deep breath.
  • “Back then, Bethany finished the adoption procedures and brought Molly straight to the Knight Family. From what I can tell, she noticed that Molly looked very similar to Christopher in appearance and deliberately used Molly to approach him.”
  • “Has Christopher and Molly done a paternity test?”
  • A chuckle came over through the phone. “Grace, are you silly? Who do you think Christopher is? How could he possibly recognize Molly as his child if there was no paternity test, let alone let Bethany freely enter the Knight Family?”
  • She suddenly recalled the little girl she had seen beside Christopher this afternoon—that must have been Molly. After falling silent for a while, she asked, “Are they married?”
  • “Nope. They only took in the child but did not accept Bethany. Even so, Bethany used Molly to pull all sorts of dirty tricks in an attempt to force Christopher to marry her.”
  • “Okay, I got it.” Grace hung up the call. Then, she hurriedly turned on her laptop and searched up all the information she could get on the Knight Family and Christopher.
  • The Knight Group was involved in all sorts of industries, and its assets were beyond imagination. On the other hand, Christopher himself had long been ranked among the Forbes’ Richest List. Moreover, there was no news of him having a partner for the past seven years. Aside from Bethany, who had used Molly to approach him three years ago, there was no other woman around him.
  • Decisive, ruthless, and stays away from women… What a headache; I can’t find a single weakness in him. How am I going to snatch Molly away from him without exposing my identity?
  • That night, she received more news—Christopher was planning to send Molly to Victory Elementary School for her first-grade studies. Then, she frowned.
  • Supposedly, Molly should have been sent to Rainwell Elite Elementary School, which was one of the best schools in Rainwell City, based on how rich and influential the Knight Group was. However, Christopher had decided to send her to an ordinary school like Victory Elementary School for her first-grade studies. Why?
  • Noah was sitting on the sofa and keeping Kayleigh company as they watched TV. When he turned around and saw his mom’s worried expression, he ran over considerately. “Mommy, why are you frowning?”
  • Grace picked him up and sat him on her lap. “It’s nothing. You’re going to start first grade in September, and I’m thinking of sending you to Victory Elementary School. Is that okay?”
  • He tilted his head to the side. “It is because Molly is going to Victory Elementary School? Are you planning to approach Molly through us?”
  • She was taken aback. “Do you know everything?”
  • Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, “Mommy, are you puzzled about why Molly is being sent to a public school even though the Knight Group is so wealthy?”
  • “Do you know why?”
  • “Come here, Mommy.” Turning on his tablet, he quickly keyed in some codes. Then, the footage of the surveillance cameras within the Knight Residence was displayed across the screen.
  • “You—” Her son had used his hacking skills to completely surpass her intelligence again, thus, she looked exasperated.
  • The surveillance camera showed Molly sitting beneath a tree and eating a dessert in the yard of the Knight Residence. For some reason, she took a bite, then threw it out suddenly.
  • Soon, the housekeeper in charge of preparing the dessert was brought forward, and Molly pointed at the housekeeper as she gave the housekeeper a dressing down. Despite her young age, the way she spoke was atrocious.
  • Coincidentally, Christopher saw what happened and dragged Molly back into the house with a dark expression.
  • At the same time, Grace pressed her lips together tightly.
  • The expression Molly had while dressing down the housekeeper was exactly like Bethany’s! If I allow Molly to continue sticking beside Bethany, she will definitely be led astray! I must come up with a way to snatch Molly back as soon as possible!
  • Thus, she asked Dylan to pull some strings, hoping to put Noah and Kayleigh in the same class as Molly when school started in September.
  • Dylan was very efficient with his work. Before a week was up, he settled the matter.
  • Moreover, Grace had managed to obtain a chance to approach the Knight Residence during that period.
  • A month later, Madam Knight would celebrate her 70th birthday. Thus, the team of chefs of the Grand Star Hotel was invited to oversee the party. Coincidentally, their pâtissière had just resigned. Thus, Grace immediately applied for the job and was successfully hired due to her superb dessert-making skills.
  • On the night of the party, she entered the Knight Residence along with the team of chefs.
  • The Knight Residence was located in the suburbs. The entire residence was decorated in an antique style and had an artistic atmosphere.
  • As it was still early, she found an excuse to stealthily sneak onto the second floor after she finished preparing the desserts. Before she came, she had already investigated the floorplan of the Knight Residence. Molly lived in the bedroom next to Christopher’s, which was located on the most southern side of the second floor.
  • As soon as she reached the door, she heard Molly’s voice. “Mommy, go and talk to Daddy; tell him I don’t want to go to Victory Elementary School.”
  • Bethany secretly felt delighted inside, but she pretended to hug Molly caringly. “I don’t want you to go there either. Victory Elementary School is full of children from poor families. They are ill-mannered and unhygienic. The children of my friends all go to Rainwell Elite Elementary School. From what they say, the facilities, environment, and teachers there are the best.”
  • All the children of my friends were sent to Rainwell Elite Elementary School. Yet, despite being the treasured daughter of the Johnson Family, my daughter is being sent to such an ordinary school? It’ll be so embarrassing if that information got out!
  • Then, Molly took the opportunity to act coy. “Then, can Mommy help me talk to Daddy?”
  • Bethany was troubled. “Um… It’s something your daddy decided on. I’m afraid I can’t speak on your behalf.”
  • “Hmph! Didn’t you say you love me the most? And yet, you can’t even help me with something like this? In the future, I’m never going to love Mommy again.” Molly seemed a little angry.
  • Silence fell across the room for a minute, then Bethany’s voice rang out again. “I might be unable to change your daddy’s mind when he decides on something, but your great-grandmother can. When the party starts later, you should go and wish your great-grandma a happy birthday. Then, be a sweet little girl and ask her to help you!”
  • “What if Daddy won’t listen to what Great-grandma says?”
  • “Then, you should kick up a huge fuss. So many people are here today; I’m sure your daddy will agree to it in order to maintain his dignity.”
  • Upon hearing those words, Grace frowned.
  • No wonder Molly acts so willfully! With Bethany’s teachings, even the most well-behaved child would turn unruly!
  • “Who are you? What are you doing here?” Suddenly, a cold voice rang out behind her.
