Chapter 3 Bethany Johnson adopted my daughter?!

  • Grace shot a look at her son. “Did you just hack into the hotel’s surveillance system?”
  • Noah tried to explain himself, “I was worried about you, Mommy.”
  • Kayleigh hurriedly defended her brother too. “Noah said that you are so brave. Will we find the rest of our brothers and sisters soon?”
  • A sad expression flashed across Grace’s face, but she swiftly pulled her face into a smile. “That’s right; I will find them soon.”
  • Two hours later, her car was parked in front of the Rainwell Orphanage. She sat in the car and stared at the closed doors of the orphanage. However, she didn’t dare to take a step out of the car.
  • That night, she had accidentally gotten herself pregnant and then given birth to nine babies in Natasha’s house that year.
  • Nonuplets were rare across the world. Moreover, she had given birth prematurely. Thus, when the babies were born, they had poor vital signs. Even so, despite the difficult conditions, they had all miraculously survived.
  • Among her nine children, the first six were boys. Although Noah was the eldest, he was extremely weak at the time. The last three of her babies were identical triplets, and they were girls. Kayleigh was the smallest among them and weighed less than 1 kg at the time of her birth. The other two girls—No.7 and No.8—had been in better condition compared to Kayleigh. However, their health was still a far cry compared to normal babies who were carried to full-term.
  • Is Baby No.8 still alive? Natasha mentioned that Baby No.8 was in extremely poor condition at the time of her birth—even Madam Hollie refused to take her. It took Noah and Kelly a month of intensive medical care in the hospital before they survived with difficulty. On the other hand, Baby No.8 had been placed in this orphanage with no relatives of her own. I wonder if she pulled through…
  • Closing her eyes, she leaned back into the chair in agony.
  • Kayleigh climbed over and patted her on her face. “Mommy, what’s wrong? Aren’t you going to look for Sister No.8?”
  • Then, Noah reached over and pulled his sister back. “Hush; Mommy is just feeling nervous!”
  • “Nervous? Why?” Kayleigh looked innocent.
  • Noah shook his head speechlessly, then patiently explained, “We are unable to be certain whether or not Sister No.8 is still alive, or if she is still living in the orphanage, or how she has been living throughout these years. Therefore, Mommy doesn’t dare to go in! She’s afraid of getting disappointed!”
  • After saying that, he patted his mom’s shoulder like a little buddy and said, “Mommy, no matter what happens, Kelly and I will face it together with you.”
  • Looking at her considerate son, Grace took a deep breath and pushed open the car door. “Noah is right. No matter what the outcome may be, I have to face this.”
  • Thus, they went to the director of the orphanage and explained the reason they were there.
  • The director was stunned to see Kayleigh. “Yes, there was indeed a little girl at the Rainwell Orphanage that looked exactly like this daughter of yours in terms of age and looks.”
  • “Really? Where is she?” Grace was jubilant.
  • However, the director looked regretful. “Unfortunately, a lady came and adopted Molly three years ago.”
  • “Molly?”
  • “Yes, that little girl’s name is Molly.”
  • “Director, can you tell us who it was that adopted Molly?” I see; my Baby No.8 is called Molly.
  • The director looked troubled. “I’m afraid this is related to personal privacy. These are regulations set by the authorities, and I’m afraid I can’t help you.”
  • After that, no matter how she begged, the director refused to tell her who it was that had adopted Molly.
  • Since it was getting late, she had no choice but to bring Noah and Kayleigh home for now.
  • As soon as they returned, Noah took out his phone and expertly dialed a number. “Uncle Dylan, can you please help me investigate the Rainwell Orphanage? Three years ago, who adopted a little girl named Molly? I just hacked into their website, but I couldn’t find out a single thing.”
  • Grace glared at her son, then snatched the phone out of his hands. “Hi, Dylan. It’s me, Grace. Just now, Noah couldn’t retrieve any information from the website of the Rainwell Orphanage. Could I trouble you to investigate this as soon as possible?”
  • “Sure. Don’t worry; I’ll give you an answer tomorrow morning.”
  • The person on the other side of the line was Dylan Wolf—the brother of her savior. She had partnered up with him to establish a security company that has a group of private detectives under them.
  • Putting aside the phone, she stared at her son helplessly. “Who allowed you to make the call before I did?”
  • Having a son that was too smart could be a big headache. Despite how young he was, he constantly surpassed his mother in terms of IQ and ability.
  • He noticed that his mom was getting mad and rushed over to her on his short, stubby legs. Then, he hugged her leg, trying to get in her good graces. “I thought you were having a hard time, so I wanted to help you out a little. Please, don’t be angry, Mommy.”
  • That soft and fluffy voice made her heart melt in an instant. Thus, she bent down and hugged her son. “You’re so considerate of me.”
  • Then, he patted his chest proudly. “Mommy, don’t be sad anymore. I will definitely help you find the rest of my brothers and sisters.”
  • “Okay, I won’t be sad.”
  • Kayleigh saw her mommy hugging her brother, then she ran over too. “Mommy, hug me!”
  • Thus, Grace bent down and hugged both her son and her daughter with a blissful expression.
  • The next morning, she received a call from Dylan. “Grace, I’ve gotten the results. Three years ago, the person who adopted Molly is someone called Bethany Johnson.”
  • “Bethany Johnson?!” Grace was shocked to the core.
  • Isn’t Bethany Johnson the woman who attempted to harm me back then? Why did she adopt Molly?
