Chapter 854 Oh No

  • Hu Tu suddenly looked up at her brother. His insult was even worse, but she didn’t feel anything at all. The girl sighed, looking dejected. “Thanks, but no thanks. I’ll get into some private institution if worse comes to worst.” The family is rich anyway, and I’m the worst among the new generation here, so it’s not like the first time I’m getting embarrassed. Thanks to this episode, Hu Tu lost her sliver of confidence toward her studies.
  • She went to school, studied, came back, finished her homework, and got all of them wrong. The usual schedule for her, she thought. The girl was as serious as usual, but still she ranked near to last place in her class. Ever since that day, she had never contacted Ning Jian, and she became more fearful toward her sharp-tongued uncle. More than once, her mother said this was a pity, but then she stopped advising Hu Tu when she noticed her daughter didn’t make a move. If it weren’t for that event happening, Hu Tu had thought her life’s path would go down this way: get into a community college, go on dates, marry a man, and get a kid. It would be a peaceful life, one without worries. She wouldn’t have come into contact with her uncle, Ning Jian, but life had dictated that a peaceful life wouldn’t come to her, at least for a long long time.
  • It was one fateful night during summer break. The sky was roaring with thunder. The moment she was done bathing and got into bed, the girl heard sounds of someone arguing coming from below. Her parents’ relationship was strained, so it was normal for them to fight. The girl didn’t really mind it, but when she heard something crashing against the floor, she thought she should go down and dissuade them. She got up and went down in the dark. As she stood at her parents’ room doorstep, the girl overheard the very thing she wished she hadn’t.
