• After leaving the cafeteria without looking back, I rushed down an empty hallway and texted Tessa.
• Me: Hey, I’m so sorry about earlier, I needed to convince them and that is why I ignored you. Please meet me at the chem lab in 15 and I will explain everything. Love you!
• Tessa didn’t reply right away, but I waited anyway, pacing outside the lab, nervous energy eating at my resolve. Five minutes later, she walked in, her brows already raised.
