Chapter 4 He Has Already Left
- “I have something to attend to, so hand me the car keys,” she demanded.
- Originally, Philip was comforting the tearful Anais. However, upon hearing Larissa's words, his expression became even more unpleasant.
- “You've been abroad all this time and just got back. What could you possibly need to attend to?”
- “Dad, why are you meddling so much?”
- “All these years, I've supported you overseas—”
- “Stop singing your own praises!” Larissa interrupted him, scoffing. “You supported me? That money was all left to me by Grandpa. You haven't even given me my share of the dividends from these past years. How do you have the nerve to say such a thing?”
- After speaking, Larissa immediately snatched the car keys from Philip's hand. She was about to leave when she suddenly stopped in her tracks.
- She walked over to Anais, gently patting the latter's cheek with a grin. “Anais, remember to tidy up my room, okay?”
- Anais' lips trembled as she nodded incessantly.
- Larissa laughed softly. “Also, we're not kids anymore. During the time I'll be staying at home, I hope you won't resort to those petty tricks like you did four years ago, understood?”
- “I... I understand...”
- Anais was on the verge of tears, while the look in Philip's eyes, directed at Larissa, was practically blazing with anger.
- But Larissa was unfazed; she simply walked out the door with the car keys.
- The living room door slammed shut with a bang, and Anais couldn't hold back any longer. Tears streamed down her cheeks.
- “Dad, did I do something wrong? Why does she despise me so much? It was like this four years ago, and now... it's still the same. Maybe I should just leave...”
- “Anais, don't overthink it. You are our only daughter. She won't be able to stay at home for long.”
- Overwhelmed with despair, Anais collapsed onto the sofa, covering her face as she cried. Philip, having no other choice, sat beside her, offering words of comfort.
- “That wild girl turned eighteen this year. According to Dad's will, she was to inherit eighteen percent of the company's shares once she came of age. Her visit this time is highly likely because she's here for her shares! Once she gets what she wants, she'll leave.”
- “Dad?”
- Suddenly, Anais lifted her gaze, an upset look on her face. “Are you... really planning to give her eighteen percent of the company's shares?”
- In reality, when she was six years old, her true identity was uncovered due to Philip's father, Darius Stenz's insistence on conducting a DNA test, revealing that she wasn't the legitimate daughter of the Stenz family.
- In order to secure her place in the Stenz family, she had always made every effort to please everyone in the Stenz household.
- Despite that, Darius was still determined to seek out his biological granddaughter!
- Initially, it was believed that Larissa was already dead, that she would never return in this lifetime...
- Yet now, not only did Larissa return, but that old man had even left all his shares to Larissa!
- Once this matter got out, Anais would become the biggest joke in the whole of Lofbury!
- “I have no choice. Dad's will was notarized back then, and Larissa has a copy of it too...” Philip gritted his teeth and added, “But don't worry. That uncultured girl doesn't understand a thing. I'll find a way to make her give up her inheritance rights!”
- Only then did Anais breathe a slight sigh of relief, her eyes misty with tears as she said, “Dad, it's not that I want the Stenz family's assets. I just feel that... the company is the fruit of Grandpa and your labor...”
- “Anais, there's no need for further explanation. I understand you. You are the true daughter of the Stenz family. That disgraceful wild girl is simply not worthy!”
- Anais sniffled, a glimmer of intensity flashing in the depths of her eyes.
- “Thanks, Dad...”
- ...
- The BMW came to a halt in front of a private hospital in Lofbury.
- The front of this hospital was extremely desolate - it didn't even have a signboard.
- As soon as she walked in, a man clad in a white coat hurriedly rushed out, nearly colliding with Larissa in the process.
- With a swift sidestep, Larissa dodged before reaching out to grab the back of his collar, pulling him back toward her.
- “Where is the man?”
- Jonathan Moore was stunned at first but quickly regained his composure. “Black Snake, you got here so fast?”
- “Enough with the nonsense! Where's that man?”
- “He's gone.” Jonathan touched his nose, expressing helplessly, “I had no idea he was the one you were after.”
- Jonathan was of mixed heritage, bearing a pair of grey-blue eyes and flaxen hair. His gaze was profound, yet his facial features retained the exquisite beauty unique to Aplothians. He was naturally blessed with good looks.
- He was the base's military doctor and, among everyone at the special training base, including the lunch lady, he was the one with the lowest level of combat skills.
- In a place that was brimming with such violence and savagery as the special training base, such a person was akin to a lamb that had unwittingly strayed into a pack of wolves.
- Therefore, Jonathan also had a codename that perfectly suited his characteristics - Sheep.
- Larissa slowly narrowed her eyes, her gaze growing increasingly menacing.
- Jonathan quickly explained, “As you know, I don't keep records of patient information here, nor do I have surveillance cameras. Besides, the payment was made through an international anonymous account. You won't be able to track him down.”
- As Larissa walked further in, she said, “Who says it's impossible? Didn't he have surgery here? That means you have blood and tissue samples, right? And a skeletal scan too, I assume? As for his appearance... forget it. The base has sent quite a few people after him, so the face he showed here might not even be his real one.”
