Chapter 12 Actually Attending University
- Tears brimmed in Anais' large eyes, and she lowered her head to wipe them away.
- “Her name is Larissa. She's the girl my parents adopted. Four years ago, because of that incident, my parents sent her abroad for her studies. She only returned a few days ago.”
- As soon as Anais finished her sentence, the girl who had been talking covered her mouth in shock. “My goodness! Was it her who hit you back then?”
- “How could Mr. and Mrs. Stenz adopt someone who's caused you such misery?”
- “This person definitely has a violent streak, an antisocial personality. She'll surely keep on bullying you here at Lofbury University.”
- “No way! How could someone like her be studying in our school? I must reveal her true colors to everyone.”
- Not far from Lofbury University, a sleek silver Bentley was parked by the roadside.
- Larissa glanced down at the license plate number displayed on her phone. Once she confirmed it was the right car, she pulled open the passenger door and gracefully slid inside.
- “You...”
- Benjamin looked on in surprise at the young girl before him. She was dressed in a white tee and jeans, and her features were delicate and beautiful. “Are you from the International Medical Research Institute?” No matter how I look at it, she's just an ordinary university student... No, that's not right. She isn't ordinary at all; at least, her appearance is far from ordinary.
- “What are you talking about?” Larissa casually patted her shoulder bag, her expression completely at ease. “I'm a freshman at Lofbury University. I merely deliver packages part-time to earn some money.”
- As she spoke, Larissa deliberately glanced at Benjamin once more, her face filled with caution as she asked, “You're not having me deliver something inappropriate, are you? I'm still a student. If there's something wrong with the contents of this box, I won't hesitate to call the police.”
- “No!” Seeing Larissa about to pull out her phone, Benjamin, who had been initially hesitant, quickly interjected, “This is just a common medicine for external injuries, not what you're thinking.”
- “That's good then.” Carrying her backpack, Larissa let out a sigh of relief.
- Seeing that she had no intention of getting up, Benjamin couldn't help but say, “Hand over the stuff to me.”
- “No way.” Larissa shook her head. “My boss insisted that only the actual buyer could sign for it.”
- Benjamin was rendered speechless. “I'm the buyer.”
- Larissa glanced at him, then took out her phone to take a picture.
- “What are you doing?” Benjamin's expression changed abruptly.
- Larissa replied matter-of-factly, “I have a feeling you aren't the genuine buyer. You claim you are, so of course I have to take your picture and send it to my boss. It's just to save myself from any future trouble.”
- With a sudden click, the flash of the camera almost blinded Benjamin's eyes.
- Benjamin felt his temples throbbing incessantly. Is the International Medical Research Institute on the verge of bankruptcy? Why are they sending such a person to deliver the medicine?
- However, upon seeing Larissa's youthful and innocent face, Benjamin took a deep breath. “You've taken the picture. Can I have the medicine now?”
- “No.” Larissa shook her head.
- Benjamin's expression was almost contorted. “Why?”
- Larissa handed him her phone. “Leave me your number so I can reach you if there's a problem in the future.”
- Gritting his teeth, Benjamin took the phone and dialed his own number. Then, he was about to return the phone to Larissa when he gasped. “Hiss!”
- A sharp sting pricked at Benjamin's fingertips, causing him to glance down.
- He noticed a corner of Larissa's phone screen was shattered, which happened to cut his finger.
- Larissa pouted. “My phone screen is shattered. Now that I've made some money, I can finally buy a new one.”
- “Can you hand me the package now?” Benjamin gritted his teeth audibly.
- Larissa nodded in satisfaction before taking out a small box, no larger than the size of a palm, from the shoulder bag she carried. “Here you go. This is for you. I'm leaving now.”
- After Larissa stepped out of the car with a smile, she watched the Bentley drive away.
- Not long after, what appeared to be a rather ordinary Volkswagen came to a halt beside her.
- The car window slowly descended, revealing Jonathan's face, which bore distinct features of mixed heritage. “Black Snake, have you found the person?”
- Larissa got into the car and chuckled. “Soon.”
- “Huh? What does that mean?”
- Larissa took a clear document bag from her backpack and placed the phone she had just used inside it. “There are several fingerprints on the phone that aren't mine, traces of blood left on the screen, a photo in the album, and a phone number in the contacts. Find out who this person is when you get back.”
- The technology for skin mask technology had reached a high level of sophistication internationally. Although Larissa hadn't noticed anything amiss even after a close examination earlier, she had taken precautions and kept samples of fingerprints and blood, just in case.
- She reckoned at least one of the samples would be genuine.
- “Okay. Are you coming to my place?”
- “No.” Larissa shook her head, opening the car door to get out. “I'm going back to school.”
- Jonathan widened his eyes. “Are you seriously planning to go to school?” The head instructor at Briostein's Zone 21 and the person consistently of the highest status among mercenaries is actually attending university...
