Chapter 11 Interesting Roommates
- Naomi curiously asked, “Larissa, you're so beautiful. Why didn't you choose to pursue performance arts? With your looks, you could easily outshine Anais from the department of performance arts. It's such a waste.”
- This was the second time Larissa heard Anais' name in the short period since the school had started.
- Instead of answering the question, Larissa asked leisurely, “I heard from the student council's senior that Anais is the campus belle of the affiliated high school.”
- “That's right. She's the epitome of beauty and wealth, so how could she not be the campus belle?”
- When Naomi mentioned Anais, a peculiar expression spread across her face. Seemingly having recalled something, Naomi burst into laughter.
- “Larissa, if you ever encounter Anais in the future, keep your distance.”
- Larissa thought. I'm hearing these words again.
- Earlier, Edith had merely hinted that Anais is of questionable character, but he didn't elaborate.
- Upon hearing Naomi's words, Larissa found herself intrigued. “Why?”
- Naomi blinked her eyes, her voice strained as she said, “She has depression. If you upset her after getting acquainted, it would be seen as you bullying her. The sheer number of her followers and simps could drown you in their criticism.”
- Larissa fell silent. I see. Anais is so resilient despite suffering from depression. I suppose she's considered outstanding among depression patients.
- Elena tugged at Naomi's clothes. “You should refrain from making so many comments.”
- “I'm not scared of her at all. Everyone in the school who isn't blind knows about Anais' Schrodinger's cat depression. Only those who are out of their minds would follow her around like lapdogs,” Naomi replied.
- During lunchtime, Naomi and Elena invited Larissa to the cafeteria.
- Larissa glanced at the message on her phone and gently turned it down as she had important matters to attend to.
- Just as Larissa was about to step out, Jennifer, who had finished applying her makeup, rose and looked at Larissa with an awkward expression.
- Larissa discerned that Jennifer bore no ill will, so she asked, “Is there something you need?”
- Jennifer pursed her lips and stiffly extended her arm. “Hello, I'm Jennifer, from Jacaster. It's a pleasure to meet you.”
- A glint flashed in Larissa's eyes as she grasped Jennifer's hand, which was adorned with exquisite nail art. Larissa smiled and said, “Pleasure to meet you too.” My roommates are all quite adorable. They're much more interesting than those blockheads on the island.
- Larissa, with her shoulder bag in tow, was headed out. No sooner had she stepped out of the school gates than she bumped into a family of three.
- Anais was affectionately holding onto Sienna's arm, interacting and conversing affectionately.
- Given that Anais was quite renowned at school, she drew many curious glances her way.
- Acting as if she hadn't seen anything, Larissa continued to stride forward.
- “Rissa?”
- Sienna frowned. “Anais, why are you calling her? If she causes any trouble at school in the future, it'll affect you too.”
- Anais uttered gently, “Mom, we're a family now. Rissa was a bit rebellious. Please don't blame her.”
- “Hmph! If only she were as sensible as you, I wouldn't have had to get so upset.”
- With fervent eyes, Anais looked at Larissa, gently saying, “Rissa, if you ever face any difficulties at school, feel free to come to me.”
- Anais was already a popular figure during her high school days. Coupled with Larissa's striking appearance, more and more people were looking their way.
- Larissa was somewhat annoyed, yet she still wore a smile on her face.
- “Anais, your makeup is quite heavy,” she remarked.
- Anais' expression froze.
- Ever since the day Larissa had slapped Anais, the latter's face hadn't fully recovered from the swelling. Upon closer inspection, one could still see the faint imprint of a handprint on her cheek. All Anais could do was use makeup to cover it up.
- Larissa said in an undertone, “If you don't want to embarrass yourself in public, don't go looking for trouble when there's none.”
- “You!”
- Sienna instinctively wanted to curse out loud, but considering the crowd around her, she had no choice but to catch herself.
- With a scoff, Larissa ignored the family she found revolting and simply walked away.
- Sienna gritted her teeth and snapped, “How rude!”
- Wiping away her tears, Anais said, “Mom, let's not discuss this anymore. It's all my fault. Don't you and Dad still have work to do at the company? You should go ahead.”
- Sienna also thought about some issues at the company, her brow furrowing slightly. She took Anais' hand and said, “Anais, if you're ever bullied at school, you must tell me. I'll stand up for you.”
- “Mom, that's not the case. All my classmates at school are really nice.”
- “All right, then. Limit your interactions with Larissa. Don't let her bully you anymore.”
- Anais nodded. “Okay, Mom. I got it.”
- Sienna, still feeling uneasy, cast a few more glances at Anais. Then, she got into the car with Philip and left.
- Anais remained rooted to her spot. Then, a few of the girls she was usually friendly with approached her.
- “Anais, who was that person just now? She was so overbearing.”
- “That's right. Mrs. Stenz is right. That person is so rude!”
