Chapter 6

  • Not edited
  • Fiza's POV:
  • I was going for a bath when I received Ehtesham's call.
  • "Hello Assalam o Alaikum! This is 'How to Pretend to be a Wife Institute' how can I help you?" I consciously taunt him.
  • A good person never does that but who says I am a good person???
  • "WHAT?" He shouted.
  • "Oh! it's you. Sorry I didn't check the number."
  • "What was that about?"
  • "What?" I pretended to be innocent.
  • "That 'How to Pretend to be a Wife Institute' thing?"
  • "Oh! I am thinking to open an Institute. It will be the first institute of its kind and can make huge business."
  • "Are you really mad or just trying to annoy me?" He hissed.
  • Mission successful...!
  • "What do you want, husband? I don't mind hearing your voice all day but I am in a little hurry right now."
  • "My friend and his wife are coming for dinner tonight."
  • "Oh! Then come early tonight and don't forget to bring something for dinner too."
  • "What do you mean by bringing something? Cook at home."
  • "Huh? Cook?... I don't know how to cook."
  • "WHAT?"
  • "Aaa! Stop shouting will you? I never cooked anything before accept noodles, omelette, and Kheer."
  • "Fine! I will bring something."
  • "Cool!" And he hung up without saying anything else.
  • Well, Allah Hafiz!
  • I put my phone on the bed and went for a bath.

  • Ehtesham's POV:
  • Annoying good for nothing woman!
  • I grumbled again as I pay for the ordered dinner. I reached home after Maghrib (sunset time) and again greeted by the singing of Sadaf and... Fiza.
  • This was how she helped Sadaf in learning different things by singing and reading along with her. Sometimes Taha also starts singing if it's his favourite rhyme. Like 'Abbu laye motor car' (father brought me a toy car) and 'Brother Jhon'.
  • Great! I start sounding like a real father...
  • I sighed and Salam loudly. Sadaf came running to me, as I quickly put the things on the table and crouches down to her level.
  • "Assalam o Alaikum Bare Papa." She held out her hand to me and kissed on my check when I shake hand with her.
  • Now its Taha turns...
  • He was clinging to Fiza as usual. I looked at him and he turned his face to other side.
  • He is just like his father...
  • When we were kids Taimoor used to get jealous if someone shakes hands with me first. Looking at him felt like living the past again. He resembles him so much.
  • "Asslam o Alaikum Taha." I said going closer to him and he circled his arms around Fiza's neck.
  • "Answer him Taha." Fiza whispered in his ear and he violently shook his head.
  • I walked to Fiza's back to see his face. His face was on her shoulder with his eyes closed. He looked so cute that I couldn't stop myself from smiling. Slowly I lean close and kissed his soft hairs.
  • Suddenly sweet alluring fragrance hits me, making me inhale it voluntarily. I opened my eyes and saw Fiza's dark brown eyes looking at me. For a moment I forgot to back away from her and Taha, just looking back in those bright eyes.
  • But I regretted my decision of not pulling back as Taha's head hit my chin in next moment. I hissed in pain and heard Fiza gasp. I quickly opened my eyes, hoping she would ask me if its hurt and I didn't want her to think I was a wimp. But instead of asking me, she started massaging Taha's head and saying soothing words to him.
  • Shouldn't she be...
  • Argh!
  • I turned on my heels and stalks into my room.

  • "So Bhabi (brother's wife) is Ehtesham being a good husband?" Khurram asked Fiza with a smug face.
  • I am so going to kill this moron!
  • He and his wife both know everything about me, Sania and this contract marriage thing. So why he is being like this?
  • "He is a very nice person." Fiza answer politely.
  • "Come on! You can tell us the truth." He says.
  • "Why would I get from lying except few more hours in Hell... He really is a very nice person. Pays full attention to the house and his responsibilities and never gives me any chance to complain... He also manages to give time to kids. Which I found really nice about him... No one devoted himself to someone's kids as he did. I am sure that Taimoor and Safina also would be in peace because of him." She says and got up.
  • She didn't say a single word against me but I feel like being punched by her every sentence.
  • "I'll serve dinner." She excused herself.
  • "Let me help you." Khurram wife also left, leaving us alone in the drawing-room.
  • "Well! I am speechless." He leaned back on the sofa.
  • "She is very good at leaving other speechless."
  • "Means you have experienced it?"
  • "Several times."
  • "How do you guys live together when you don't even like to look at each other?"
  • "Who says we don't?"
  • "You mean you do?"
  • "Of course!"
  • "Then how did you find her?"
  • "Different!" I said honestly and rolled my eyes when I saw him smirking.
  • "You, my friend, are going to have a hard time from now on." His smirk widened and I turned away my face.
  • I know that!
  • Fiza is not one of those girls, who sits back and accept everything. She knows how to fight for her rights and if she cannot fight, she will make other's life hell for sure. But the thing puzzles me that why is she enduring things?
  • "Dinner is served!" We heard Fiza's voice and both of us got up.
  • We walked to the table where Sadaf was already seated beside Khurram's wife Shazia.
  • "Mashallah! The food smells nice." Khurram says taking a seat.
  • Of course, it would! I bought it for the best restaurant...
  • I rolled my eyes and about to sit when my eyes landed on the food.
  • What the hell!
  • "Who made this?" I couldn't stop myself from asking because I only bought Prawn Biryani, Qorma and ice-cream for dessert, but here I could see Achaar Ghost, Chicken Tikka and something looking like a Chinese dish.
  • "Me, who else?" Fiza answered with a mischievous smile.
  • Did she lie to me earlier???
  • I looked at her in disbelief and she winked me, turning her face to Shazia.
  • It's just as I say!
  • She will make my life hell for sure ...
