- I am awake, but I haven't opened my eyes. I am enjoying being close to Atticus. I slept comfortably in Atticus's bed. I didn't have a single nightmare.
- A trail of sparks runs down my neck, and I shiver. My eyes flicker open, and I see Atticus staring at my neck. His fingers are gently rubbing over the mark he placed there.
