Chapter 88 Fate

• The first week was hectic. Tory and her team came before Fashion Week was even in session, just so she could get a feel of the place, get her designs ready, and get her models fitted with her designs. Her family wanted to fly in her own models, but she didn’t want to be too extravagant and excessive, calling attention to herself. One thing they made her bring from home, aside from the staff and assistants, was her bodyguard, Andrew. She may be in another country where few people recognize her, and her life might not be in danger, but they still need her to take precautions. She was the only daughter of the Manchesters, and they could not jeopardize her safety. They wanted her to take two guards, but she insisted on one or none. Having two men follow her all the time would look suspicious. If she had only one, she could tell that he was her driver and that was more acceptable than security.
• Tory and her fashion line named after her were a hit among the designers, and she got invited from one party to another, but even though she came to the invitations, she was still cautious. She remembered what had happened to her in her younger years, and veered off from drinking too much and being too touchy-feely with her fellow designers, their models, and assistants. She was not oblivious to the terrible reputation these events held. Finally, she was partying at the adult table. People were taking her seriously and listening to what she had to say.
• She felt very free and responsible. In Europe, her family’s fame and wealth did not loom over her head, and she loved that nobody cared who she was. They were rude to her, shoving her out of the way when they needed to. People were not fawning over her, and the paparazzi focused their cameras elsewhere, giving her anonymity, and she loved it. Here she could easily disappear, be herself or even reinvent her identity and be somebody totally different if she wanted to.
