- I’d been pacing for so long that my footsteps had carved a faint path in the gravel, back and forth. Like some sort of deranged, oversized housecat with anxiety issues, which, frankly, wasn’t so far from the truth.
- My palms kept flexing restlessly, claws threatening to break out. The rising sun glared across the horizon, warm, but it did nothing to melt the ice lodged in my chest.
