- The office felt too warm, I had noticed it at first but now it was getting too hard to ignore. But I didn't push away my discomfort, instead I let it wash over me and build my blank mask onto something stronger.
- A fire burned low in the hearth, the scent of pine logs thickening the air, but none of it touched me. Not the heat or the rich leather walls, not even the way the heavy curtains muffled the sound of the pack outside. I sat across from Alpha Rowan, hands folded neatly in my lap, spine straight and face empty.
