• Melanie and Sophie rushed back into the sitting room, both of them trying to steady their faces, but before Melanie could open her mouth, Alexander stood from the couch, phone in hand, his tone grave.
• “I just got a call,” he said. “Something happened at the site. They need me back there immediately.”
• Melanie blinked in shock. “I was just about to tell you that,” she muttered. “Sophie told me the same thing only moments ago.”
