Chapter 2
- Sometimes, life gives you a choice; other times, it rips the ground from beneath your feet. Right now, Camille was learning the difference.
- As she sat there in the sitting room, staring at the divorce papers over and over again, she refused to believe that this was real. No! She was going to fight for her marriage, she would not give up easily, not after all she had gone through.
- The door pushed open and Alexandra walked in, it had been over three hours since he left. Camille stood up immediately and faced him, holding the papers and a lighter in her hands.
- Alexander paused, a look of curiosity on his face. “What is this?” he asked coldly.
- “I am not signing them, because I don’t want a divorce.” She muttered with a shaky voice from hours of crying.
- Alex sighed. “Camille, you don’t understand…”
- “No, I understand perfectly!” She cut him short. “You are not thinking straight right now, Alex. We have been through so much together in the past six months that we have been married. Please don’t throw me out of your life like this, I love you Alexandra.” Camille burst into tears as she fell on her knees.
- “That is enough, Cami. Please stand up and stop embarrassing yourself. Our marriage ended the day you had a miscarriage. I have only been with you for the last three months out of respect for your father and pity for you. but now your father is dead and I will no longer substitute my happiness for yours. Sign the damn papers and don’t make any more scenes out of it.” He demanded.
- Camille fell at his feet, holding on to one of his legs. “I love you Alex, please don’t do this to me. Let’s give this another chance, I beg you.” she wept.
- Alexandra dragged his foot away from her grasp, stepping backwards. “It is too late, Cami. You still have a whole life ahead of you, go and live it and let's stop wasting our time. I am in love with Fiona, I have always been, now there is no reason to not be with her.” He insisted.
- “We can still make it work, I will be a better wife, I promise.” Tears rolled down her eyes.
- “He said he no longer wants you!” a feminine voice suddenly cut through her tears.
- Camille is confused at first, she looks to the door and finds a strange lady standing there with a luggage in her arm. Camille looked at Alex and went back to the lady. What was going on here?
- “Camille, meet Fiona… The love of my Life.” he introduced.
- Camille felt her heart leap into her stomach as it began beating sporadically. She immediately stood on her feet, still lost at the scene in front of her.
- “What is she doing here?” Camille asked, trying to sound steady and hold back on the tears.
- “Fiona will be staying with me henceforth. You can move your things to the guest room until the divorce is finalized, then I would appreciate it if you left me house after that.”
- Camille shook her head, still in shock at the scene unfolding. Alex would really do this to her? He brought another woman to their matrimonial home and is even willing to share their bed with her while his wife stays in the guest room?
- “You are making me a guest in my own matrimonial home?” Camille asked in disbelief. She refused to accept that the man she loved could be this heartless.
- “Bitch, it was never your matrimonial home, you seduced him and tried to trap him with a baby.” Fiona chirped in.
- “You shut up while I am having a conversation with my husband.” Camille gnashed at her in anger.
- “Do not speak to her in that tone, Camille. I really want us to end this on good terms, so just sign the damn papers and let's be done with it.”
- Camille sniffed in and wiped the tears off her eyes. “So your mind is made up? This is what you really want? A divorce.”
- “That is right.” Alex replied.
- Camille nodded, fighting back her tears. “Okay,” she mumbled. She walked back to the center table and grabbed the pen, then without caring to read through the pages, she scrambled and signed on all sides.
- “There you go.” She flung the papers at him, gritting her teeth to try and muffle her cry.
- “I will let you know when it is finalized and you will get a fair share of my belongings…”
- “I do not want your money, Alex!” she cut him short, the pain piercing through her heart.
- “Liar, you women are the same, jumping on every successful man you meet and clinging to him like a parasite.” Fiona uttered.
- Camille clenched her fist. “You have broken my heart, Alexandra Steel. I am never going to forgive you for this, I swear on my late father.” Tears rolled down her cheeks.
- “I do not want your forgiveness as I have done nothing wrong to you. Please move your things to the guest room immediately, my soon to be wife would like to rest her head.” Alex said coldly, clearly with no regrets whatsoever for his actions.
- Camille sniffed in and nodded. “Forget the guest room, I should be done packing in an hour, then I will be out of your hair forever. Our paths will never cross again Mr. Steel, I have loved you for a good part of my life and I don’t regret it, I only regret not seeing the truth earlier.”
- “Bitch, save us the long talk and start packing already, I have travelled over ten hours just to be with the man I love, the one you tried to steal from me.”
- Camille didn’t want to exchange any more words with this woman; she just wanted to be out of their sights. Seeing these two together was hurting her more than knowing that her marriage with Alex was over.
- As she walked out of the mansion with her bags, Camille turned back to take one last look. She saw Alexander staring at her from the balcony and then Fiona joined him, hanging her arm around his and smiling mockingly at her.
- She wiped the tear off her face. “Goodbye Mr. Steel, you have shown me that love is nothing but pain.” She soliloquized.
- They say love is supposed to heal, but for Camille, it only seemed to tear her apart. This was either the end, or the very beginning! What could the future be holding in store for the poor Orphan?
- TBC!!
