• Alexander Steel paced across the polished marble floor of his suite, one hand gripping his phone tightly to his ear, the other clenching and unclenching at his side. The room was dimly lit, his laptop still open on the coffee table with blueprints scattered across the couch, forgotten. His thoughts were spiraling fast now—faster than he could catch them—and he needed answers.
• The line clicked.
• “Malcolm,” he said without even letting the man finish his greeting. “I need you to drop whatever it is you're doing and run a full check on Melanie Cooper. Specifically, I want to know if she had any children while she was in Germany. I don’t care how busy you are, make it fast.”
