Chapter 7

  • Brody's POV
  • I adjusted my tie as I walked into the organization Mr Bill worked for, I found a lady there already talking to his secretary. "Hello, I'm here to see Bill." I said and the secretary frowned.
  • "Do you have an appointment with him?" She asked.
  • Resisting the urge to insult her, I answered politely. "Yes, he called me over to his office. My name is Brody Taylor." I answered and the lady turned to look at me.
  • It was no other person than Karen. Embarrassed, I pretended not to know her. "I was actually hoping I would wake up and find you in the room this morning." She said and looked at me..
  • I avoided her gaze and walked towards his office, she swept past me and stood in front of me. "I'm talking to you, you're such a coward." She insulted.
  • "I don't know you." I lied.
  • Her eyes showed that she was very angry. "How can you say you don't know me?" She asked.
  • I was getting really embarrassed. "Karen, don't behave like an insane person." I told her and she stared at me, looking aghast.
  • "You used me and dumped me." She said and I frowned. I totally didn't understand what she meant by I used and dumped her.
  • My brow furrowed in consternation. "How?" I asked.
  • "We had sex last night and this morning, you're gone like it never happened." She answered and I looked at her shocked.
  • She didn't think so, did she?
  • I gave her a crooked smile. "We didn't actually have sex."
  • "I was naked, how can you explain that?" She asked.
  • I looked surprised and perplexed. "I'm a responsible man and having something to do with you is highly stupid. You're poor and I'm rich. There's a difference if you don't know." I answered and walked into Mr Bill's office leaving her shocked at the door.
  • Mr Bill looked excited to see me. "Mr Brody," He called out with a smile. "I'm glad to see you, your call sounded urgent."
  • "Yeah, my mother called, she's back in town and she wants to see my girlfriend." I explained, gently and he chuckled.
  • "Please have a seat," He offered and I pulled out a chair and sat down facing him. "I have someone for you, she should be on her way now." He added with a smile.
  • "You didn't find a rich girl for the contract, did you?" I asked gently but curiously.
  • He shook his head. "I didn't actually see a rich lady that wanted to accept the contract but I found a lady, her name is Karen." He answered.
  • I looked at him cautiously as the name sank into my head. It was definitely a familiar name. "Karen?" I asked and he nodded again.
  • "Do you know her?" He asked.
  • "Mr Bill, I'm here." A familiar voice said and walked in. As I turned back and our eyes met each other, we both shouted. "You!"
  • "What are you doing here?" She asked rudely, walking towards me.
  • I snapped. "I should be asking you that question, whore."
  • Her eyes widened and she slapped me. "You're a foolish son of a nitwit." She fired back and sat down on the chair.
  • I avoided her gaze and looked at Bill who stared back at me confused.
  • "I'm sorry but do you guys know each other?" He asked pensively.
  • Silence hung in the air as I refused to answer. "Yes, I know the bastard." She insulted and my eyes darkened with a frown.
  • I couldn't believe she called me a bastard. It wasn't coincidental that she was here, was it? She was the one Bill found to sign the contract. "First, she slapped me and now she called me a bastard." I told him angrily. Somehow, I managed to control my anger because of her false accusations.
  • "If I take this to court, I'll surely win the case." She threatened and Bill turned to look at me.
  • "Take what to court? Did you offend her?" He asked.
  • I shot him an annoyed look and he directed his questions to her. "Karen, what did he do?"
  • "He drugged me and had sex with me." She said and my heart hammered in my chest.
  • "You're exaggerating. I didn't drug you, you were drunk." I replied quickly, defending myself.
  • She tutted in disbelief. "So you're agreeing that you raped me?"
  • I frowned. How was it comfortable to create false allegations. "I'm not agreeing to that either. You were too drunk to know what happened."
  • Her lush lower lip quivered slightly. "How do you explain waking up naked, I always sleep with my clothes on. How did I wake up naked?" I asked.
  • "You..." I paused, I couldn't find anything reasonable to say. No one would believe me. It was totally pointless. "It's useless having this conversation with you." I added.
  • "You're so dumb, I might get pregnant after last night. Didn't you think of all these things before taking advantage of me?"
  • "I didn't do anything to you, we kissed and that was it. It was Michael who tried to rape you and not me."
  • "Brody, I also feel this conversation is irrelevant because I'm going to file a case against you." She said and my eyes almost popped out of its socket.
  • "For what?" I inquired, my heart terribly beating at a fast rate.
  • "For damages, you wanted to inflict bodily injuries on me."
  • "Really?" I asked with a smirk.
  • "It's not funny, rapist."
  • I looked at Bill and frowned. "Why would you have a mad woman as a client? I mean, it's clearly written on her face that she's not alright."
  • He frowned. "She's not just my client, she was my junior in high school." He answered.
  • I chuckled and looked at her. I felt myself tensed even more, I didn't know how to explain to her that nothing happened. She was drunk and we kissed but I didn't do anything bad to her.
  • Knowing the bad image it would bring for my company, I swallowed my pride. "How can we resolve this?" I asked.
  • "We aren't resolving any shit till you agree that you raped me." She answered with a smirk.
  • Looking at her, my eyes widened. I wondered if it was possible admitting to something I didn't do. "I didn't do it." I said, admitting no such thing.
  • Bill cleared his throat hoping to settle the case. "We should be talking about the contract not sex or rape." He reminded me.
  • "I'm no longer interested in signing the contract." Karen told me and stood up.
  • I looked at Bill, he could only shrug.
  • "To hell with your signature." I also told her and stood up.
