Chapter 9 Will You Sleep With People?

  • Su Yao carefully raised her hand toward the bus from a distance.
  • When she raised her hand, her sleeve slid down and revealed a long bad scar on her wrist.
  • She hurriedly pulled down her sleeve in fear that people would see it.
  • Seconds later, the bus stopped in front of her. The bus driver glanced rudely at her, then ushered her impatiently. "Hurry it up! Quit dwindling."
  • Su Yao quickly got in and sat in the furthest row in the back.
  • The scenery outside the window flashed by. Su Yao watched everything in bewilderment, as everything looked unfamiliar to her. She couldn't find a trace of how things looked in the past.
  • Four years passed and everything has changed, including herself.
  • She got off the bus on a busy street.
  • She had to find work as soon as possible and earn money.
  • Su Yao's haze feel upon a tall, bright building. The two words, "Sky City" was written in large, colourful lights which shone brightly and enticingly.
  • But what attracted Su Yao was small row of text - a job advert.
  • She didn't have money, a family, proof of education, nor an identity card. A proper establishment definitely wouldn't hire her. This kind of place is the only place she could turn to.
  • What's more, she would earn fast money in a place like this, right?
  • Su Yao raised her leg and walked inside.
  • "He...hello, I'd like to apply for the job.
  • She said such an incredibly normal sentence very cautiously.
  • Behind the stage, a woman with exceptional make up raised her eyes and furrowed her forehead when her gaze landed on Su Yao.
  • The woman before her was so skinny that she looked like she could faint at any given time. She looked incredibly pale, and her clothes looked several years old. If it weren't for the fact that Su Yao was clean from head to toe, she would have almost took her for a beggar.
  • The woman's gaze fell on Su Yao's face and figured that her facial features were acceptable, but the scar on her neck was too eye-catching. Wealthy people went there, and they wouldn't set their sights on this trash.
  • The woman waved her hand impatiently. "Just go. You're not suitable for this place."
  • Having been rejected, Su Yao got a little anxious. "I'm a real hard worker... I can take on hard jobs. As long as I can earn money, I'm willing to do anything," she stuttered.
  • The woman finally looked at her with a mean and impatient glare. "As long as you can earn money, you're willing to do anything huh? Would you sleep with people?"
  • Su Yao's heart sank with a thud and her face turned even more deathly pale.
  • Su Yao, you don't even care about your life. Why would you care about your body?
  • As long as you can earn money and save up enough as soon as possible, what does it matter if you slept with people?
  • "Yes."
  • With the look on her face and the words that escaped her mouth, it felt like an innocent girl was being forced into prostitution for no reason at all.
  • The woman waved her hand and smiled. "Forget it. With just one look, I can tell that you're not suitable for this place. Go find work at some restaurant or a proper workplace."
  • Having worked at Sky City for the past few years, Wumei's best skill was judging people.
  • The woman before her looked down and out, but she had some sense of virtuousness in her bones.
  • What woman here didn't have seductive eyes that they couldn't hide? People like her wouldn't survive here.
  • "I'm begging you. Please let me stay." Su Yao was desperate. "As long as I can make money, I'll do any dirty or tiring job."
  • *Pffffft* Wumei laughed. "Why do you love money so much? Everything you say is about money."
  • Su Yao went silent for a moment. "I want to earn lots and lots of money to go find my child."
  • Wumei couldn't refrain from smiled. This woman told a random story of desperation. She'd heard these kind of stories many times before and was numb to it all.
  • Wumei wasn't a meddling person, but she didn't know what had gotten over her today. The woman before her eyes was in trouble yet stubborn. She pitied her quite a bit.
  • "The customers here may be rich, but they play dirty. This place isn't right for you. If you're interested, I could introduce you to a job. It doesn't pay a lot and it'll leave you a little tired."
  • "What kind of work?" Asked Su Yao.
  • "Alcohol sales. I'll introduce you to a factory owner. When the customers want alcohol, all you have to do is bring it to them. You don't need to talk to them, but of course, if you can sell, then the commission is pretty decent. So, are you up for it?"
  • "Yes."
  • As long as she could earn money, she would do any job.
  • Seeing just how compliant Su Yao was, Wumei nodded seductively. "Go take a look at the rooms first, then you'll officially start work tomorrow."
