Chapter 8 I Hate You

  • It took Jocelyn some courage to tell her father that she had gotten into a scuffle, after which she quickly distanced herself from the phone. As expected, Jeremy started growling at her. “Jocelyn, why can’t you behave yourself? Did I spend so much money to get you into the university just for you to get into a scuffle? Do you know how much money I lose for every minute you bother me? I’ll donate some money to your university later. Don’t call me over such a trivial matter again!” Upon finishing his words, he hung up the call.
  • Clenching the phone, Jocelyn couldn’t utter a word for a long time. Since she was young, her father had always believed that he could solve all her problems with money. He wouldn’t ask why she got into a fight or what she really wanted.
  • “My dad said he didn’t have the time to come,” Jocelyn pressed her lips together and said.
  • Enraged, Maria landed a slap on the table and stood up straight as she couldn’t believe that not only was Jocelyn arrogant, she also dared to lie to her. “I have to meet your guardian today. Otherwise, I won’t allow you to leave the school compound!”
  • For the entire afternoon, Jocelyn watched as the lecturers busied themselves with work. However, Jeremy was still nowhere in sight when it was time for the students to go home. Seeing that the sky had turned dark, Maria stopped marking the papers and raised her head. “Is your guardian not coming?”
  • Jocelyn opened her mouth but couldn’t utter a word. Then, she relaxed her grip on the phone and dialed a number. Twenty minutes later, Sebastian appeared at the office.
  • “Sebastian.” Jocelyn flashed a smile at him.
  • “Are you Jocelyn’s guardian?” Maria found the man to be mature and somewhat familiar, but she couldn’t recall where she had seen him before.
  • “What happened?” Sebastian approached Jocelyn without answering the question.
  • “She got into a fight and broke her classmate’s nose.” Maria adjusted her glasses.
  • “She had plastic surgery. It’s just some silicone in her nose,” Jocelyn explained.
  • With a calm gaze, Sebastian took a look at Jocelyn, who stuck out her tongue and fell silent. “Sorry for troubling you. I’ll lecture her later.”
  • Maria didn’t expect that he would be so polite, which was in stark contrast to Jocelyn’s attitude. No longer furious, she lectured Jocelyn for a bit and let them go.
  • At that moment, the moon shone brightly above their heads. Jocelyn was following the man as the moonlight cast their shadows on the ground.
  • After hesitating for a moment, Jocelyn ran past him and stared at him. “Why were you so polite to Miss Chandler? Shouldn’t you behave like those presidents in the dramas and say to her, ‘I will never allow you to bully my woman! From now on, you’re no longer the lecturer in this university!’?”
  • Sebastian stopped in his tracks and gazed at the woman who was much shorter than he was. “First of all, you’re not my woman. Secondly, you should respect your lecturer and study hard. It’s not hard to have fun in a bar and get into a scuffle, but it’s hard to achieve worthy life goals like studying hard, waking up early, loving someone, and realizing your dream. Even though the journey will be difficult, you will thank yourself in the future if you can achieve them.”
  • “What about loving you, then?” Jocelyn shot him a naughty smile.
  • All of a sudden, Sebastian turned solemn. “Jocelyn, you’re about to graduate. As far as I know, you got into showbiz because you were discovered by an agent. However, due to your bad reputation, your family members didn’t allow you to quit your studies. You have to figure out what you want your future to look like. I could help you today, but what about next time? We have nothing to do with each other, so I’m not obliged to help you solve your problems.” Sebastian grasped her shoulders to make her face him.
  • Jocelyn remained silent at that.
  • “From tomorrow onward, I won’t interfere in your affairs or meet you—” Before Sebastian could finish his words, Jocelyn grabbed his wrist and bit the back of his hand. “You!” Just when he wanted to rebuke her, he saw that her eyes had welled up with tears, which then dropped on the back of his hand. In an instant, his heart softened.
  • “I hate you!”
