Chapter 14 Liking

  • Jocelyn had changed into a skin-tight black mini skirt and put on a hat. She was sitting at a corner in the bar in her high heels as her bright twinkly eyes scanned her surroundings.
  • This is the fourth day already.
  • Jocelyn observed the necklace intently.
  • This button...
  • Ever since she last met him in the bar, she hadn’t seen him anymore.
  • “Are you still looking for him?” Talia gave her a glass of juice.
  • “Yeah.” Jocelyn took a sip of the juice. “It seems like he hasn't been here since that day, though.”
  • “I’ve asked around for you, but no one knows his real identity. He only appears at night, so everyone calls him the Dark Prince.”
  • A prince in the dark.
  • “Police?” Jocelyn asked.
  • Talia shook her head. Looks like this girl’s hearing is really bad. Then, she shook the glass of alcohol in her hand before giving it to Jocelyn.
  • “Why don’t you try this? I just learned how to make this cocktail.”
  • “No, thanks.” Jocelyn shook her head.”Don’t you remember how I got teased by those bunch of men because I got drunk after you guys downed me with beer during the birthday party?”
  • “Still, the man that you’ve been thinking about day and night only saved the damsel in distress because she was teased after getting drunk. He might appear if you drink again.”
  • Jocelyn’s eyes brightened upon hearing that.
  • However, she shook her head as her gaze soon dimmed.
  • “No, no. I promised him that I wouldn’t drink again.”
  • The only reason why she was teased by those thugs and was almost dragged away by them was because she drank too much, and it was fortunate that the young man saved her back then.
  • At that moment, Jocelyn was already dizzy and couldn’t see his face clearly, so all she could do was grab tightly to his shirt, which she unknowingly ripped a button off of. She also remembered his raspy voice. “Girl, you should avoid drinking next time.”
  • Ever since then, Jocelyn turned the button into a pendant and wore it everyday while she waited for him to show up at the bar.
  • From that day onward, she had completely stopped drinking.
  • But… why don’t you come visit me when I’m actually being so obedient?
  • “Are you saying that you fell in love with him?” Talia opened up the bottle of champagne in her hand as she stared at Jocelyn. “What about Sebastian? You’re the one who wanted him in the first place.”
  • Right then, Jocelyn felt her heart drop as she quickly motioned around.
  • “No! There’s no way that I like him. It’s just that…” Her face flushed. “He saved me once and took good care of me, so I wanted to repay him as I really felt grateful. I just wanted to repay him.”
  • Hearing that, Talia’s eyes narrowed as she smiled, while Jocelyn stopped looking at her and started sipping on her drink.
  • The man didn’t appear even until late at night.
  • Tired, she yawned as she left the bar. Once Jocelyn, who was slightly drunk, got to the entrance, the cool air hit her, causing her to sober up as she took her shoes off and held them in her hands with a flushed face.
  • Walking down the street barefooted late at night, Jocelyn didn’t feel cold at all although her skin was exposed to the cold air.
  • Right now, there was nothing else that could make her feel cold to the core besides the McBrides.
  • However, before Jocelyn could walk any further, a few dark figures appeared from the empty streets as a few strong looking men surrounded her.
  • “Hold it right there!”
  • A blonde-haired man stood in front of Jocelyn as his gaze fixated on the necklace on her chest before he nodded vigorously. It’s her.
  • At that moment, the creepy smile on the blondie’s face made Jocelyn tremble.
  • What the hell! Why is this blondie looking at me with such a lustful look? I don’t think I’ve offended anyone recently, though. Could it be that this is one of Joanne’s dirty tricks to release her anger on me?
  • “Hello, gentlemen! I think you have mistaken me for someone else. Haha! It’s fine, though. I often get people mixed up as well! Aw, man, it looks like I left my phone at the bar just now. Excuse me, gentlemen. I need to go get my phone!” Jocelyn said in a joking tone as she giggled and covered her chest with her bag before she turned around, wanting to leave.
  • “You little brat! Do you think that you can fool us easily?”
  • “Hehe… Well… not really.”
  • Looks like my plan to act dumb failed.
  • Jocelyn could sense bad intentions coming from those men’s faces.
  • Sh*t! Am I, the wild and reckless Jocelyn, really going to die here today?
  • “You brat! I’d advise you to stay put and don’t try to pull any tricks! In fact, we might even let you go if you give us the thing!”
  • “What thing? Do you guys want money? I have a lot of money! Just hang on. I’ll pass it to you right away!”
  • This was Jocelyn’s first time realizing that Jeremy’s words made sense—money could indeed be used to solve anything. She chuckled upon that realization.
  • She immediately reached into her bag. However, her bag was thrown to the ground.
  • “You b*tch! Are you trying to dismiss us using money?! I don’t want your money. What I want is this!”
  • A man with a knife scar on his face kicked Jocelyn’s bag away before pointing at her chest intimidatingly, while the button necklace on her collarbone glistened slightly.
  • “No way!”
  • Jocelyn misunderstood his meaning as she covered her chest tightly.
  • They can kill me, but there's no way I’d let them humiliate me. I won’t give Joanne the chance to tarnish my reputation!
  • Right then, Scarface signaled for his men to surround Jocelyn while she raised her voice and screamed for help.
  • “Help! Someone’s trying to rape me! Someone please help!”
  • Right then, the blondie had already grabbed her arm, but Jocelyn chomped into his hand without any hesitation, causing him to let go of her in pain.
  • “B*tch!” The blondie kicked her off. “How dare you bite me!”
  • Unbothered by the pain, Jocelyn covered her stomach before getting up and started running as Scarface started chasing after her along with his men.
  • Right when the man was about to grab ahold of her collar, she took her bag off and slammed it at him before a sharp pain shot up from her leg. Then, her vision went dark immediately after she turned around.
  • Thump!
  • Jocelyn’s head buzzed as she ran into a strong, muscular chest.
  • It’s over. They got me.
  • Jocelyn fell back from the inertia before a warm pair of arms pulled her into an embrace.
  • Getting a whiff of the light cologne scent on his body, she immediately hugged him by his waist before her excited but upset voice rang out.
  • “Old man…”
  • Sebastian stood in the dark as he stared at those men in front of him coldly.
  • Although Jocelyn didn’t know it, he could already tell that they were here for the necklace.
  • Indeed, it isn’t safe to let this girl keep the button.
  • “Wow! You’ve got yourself a helper!” The blondie harrumphed.
  • “So what?! Do you really think that we are scared of him when you guys are outnumbered by us?”
  • “Let’s save our breath for later. Brothers, charge!
  • Sebastian then let go of Jocelyn, who fell onto the ground because she had sprained her ankle and couldn’t stabilize herself.
  • Seeing that Sebastian wanted to go to help Jocelyn, the blondie clenched his fists and charged toward Sebastian. However, his wrist was grabbed by Sebastian before he could punch him in his face; he grunted from the pain of Sebastian gripping onto his wrist.
  • “It hurts! It hurts…”
  • Initially, Scarface and the others wanted to help the blondie, but a few bodyguards dashed out from the bushes and surrounded them in no time.
  • Seeing that they were in a precarious situation, the blonde man flung Sebastian’s hand away before shouting at his men to leave and made his escape hurriedly as his figure disappeared in the darkness quickly.
  • Instead of chasing after them, Sebastian had something more important to do.
  • However, he couldn’t help but frown when he saw Jocelyn’s sitting posture. The girl, who was not wearing shoes, had her legs bare and exposed as her skirt rode up slightly while she sat on the floor. Staring at her curves, Sebastian gulped.
  • Then, he quickly took his blazer off and threw it toward Jocelyn’s legs with a dark expression.
  • “Get up.”
  • “No.” Jocelyn’s eyes glistened brightly. “Carry me, old man.”
  • Still, Sebastian ignored her and wanted to remove the necklace that she was wearing. Unexpectedly, Jocelyn grinned and grabbed his hand before she clung onto his neck.
  • “Thank you,” she uttered softly in a sweet voice as she buried her head in his chest.
