• The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon when the family minivan pulled into the grand entrance of Disney World. The iconic castle loomed in the distance, a fairy tale structure that made even the adults gasp in awe. Jessie sat in the front passenger seat, wearing a pair of sparkly Minnie Mouse ears Cal had slipped onto her head that morning. In the backseat, Cal Jr. and Sophie were wide-eyed, their mouths agape as they took in the wonderland sprawling before them.
• “Mom, is this real?” Sophie whispered, clutching her little plush unicorn with trembling fingers.
• “It’s all real, sweetheart,” Jessie said, smiling through eyes already misty. “Your dad and mama made it happen.”
