- The last of my tears felt like stubborn anchors finally giving way, leaving a raw, tender ache in their wake. I swiped at my cheeks, the skin still damp, and tried to gather the fractured pieces of myself. Just then, Jessie appeared in the hallway, her arms crossed but her lips curved into a gentle, tearful smile.
- "Let's have breakfast," she suggested, her voice soft, laced with a comforting warmth. "These two can become T-Rexes if they don't eat soon."
