• The afternoon sun beat down on the garden, leaving us both flushed and slightly sweaty. We retreated to the cool sanctuary of the kitchen, each grabbing a glass of ice water. The cold liquid was a welcome relief, quenching our thirst and cooling our sun-kissed skin. We stood there for a moment, the silence between us comfortable, punctuated only by the clinking of ice against glass.
• Olivia finished her water first, setting the glass down on the counter with a soft clink. She turned to me, her eyes lingering on mine, a playful glint dancing in their depths.
