- The apartment felt warmer that night. Ivy sat curled on the sofa with a stack of files balanced on her lap, her eyes scanning the legal documents the lawyer had sent over. Josh emerged from the kitchen with two steaming cups of tea, then dropped onto the seat beside her, as if her need for space was the least of his concerns.
- “If you keep staring at those papers, your eyes are going to rebel,” he said, handing her a cup. “Take a sip. Think of it as a commercial break.”
- Ivy accepted the tea but didn’t look up. “I don’t have time for commercial breaks. The first hearing is only days away, Josh. I need to know every detail.”
