- The morning sun was just beginning to peek through the curtains as I descended the stairs. The house felt unusually quiet, the air thick with an unspoken tension. I entered the kitchen and found Angel sitting alone, already halfway through her breakfast. The familiar clink of her spoon against the bowl was oddly comforting, though River couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss.
- “Morning,” i greeted as I poured myself a cup of coffee, trying to keep my tone neutral. Angel glanced up, offering a smile, but her eyes darted toward the empty seat at the table.
