• The clear sky had faded to a dark blue as the city shifted from day to night life. As Jaxon drove through the roads, he could see some night clubs that had started to open and some people on the streets were dressed elegantly for dinner.
• Jaxon was calm, or as calm as one could be after he had successfully dealt with the situation concerning June. He didn't want to think of it any longer, all he wanted to do was go home and be with his Gem.
• He pulled up outside the house and strolled in with the intention of surprising Ruby. But that plan changed when he got a whiff of a heavenly scent coming from the kitchen. Was that steak? The scent of roasted vegetables wafted through the air as well and he wondered what was going in the kitchen. And was Ruby making dinner?
