Chapter 7 HURTING HIM

  • Netra:
  • I have recovered gradually after the assault. Jeevith tried to stay with me and win my heart, showing my health condition as an excuse. However, I didn't let him play with me and hired a nurse to take care of me. Serena started staying with me, refusing my order to leave me alone. I gave in as I understood that Serena cares for me.
  • This incident made me think about the Home, which I have established long back for the victims. Though it was a trick of Jeevith to give me a reason to come back to life, it showed me the seriousness of the issue. If something happens to me all of a sudden, what will happen to those innocent girls? If I write a will transferring the whole property to the Home after my death, it provides the financial aid but not a security. If I am alive, I can use my influence, power or money to save them. But, what's the condition of the Home if I leave this planet all of a sudden? I should provide permanent financial aid and security to them. I should think about this.
  • Within two months, I recovered entirely and went back to the office. I withdrew the case against Vikranth, and it made Jeevith angry with me. However, I am happy as Jeevith didn't show up from the last three months. I saw him for the last time when I was shifted to my house from the hospital. Serena suggested me to call him many times to thank him for saving me. But I don't understand why I should thank him. Legally still we are a couple, and of course, he has to save his wife. He did what he should do, but not a favour to me.
  • After a few days, I read in the newspaper about the death of Jeevith's mother. I smiled and remembered my first and last meeting with her. I prayed for her soul to rest in peace. I went to the office, and in the afternoon, Jeevith visited me. This time he didn't enter my room which he had done many times in the past. Serena informed me, and I allowed him to come in.
  • "Netra, I am leaving to the US. Let me know when our divorce case comes to the court," Jeevith said.
  • "Sure!"
  • "My contact number is with Serena. If you want to call me anytime..." Jeevith said.
  • "I don't want to call you," I said immediately.
  • "I will ask Serena or the lawyer to inform you about our divorce case," I said.
  • "Okay, I will leave," Jeevith said, sounding a bit dull.
  • "Bye!" I said.
  • He went until the door and turned back.
  • "Please take care of yourself. Many lives are dependent on you," Jeevith said.
  • "I know!" I said.
  • Jeevith went off of my cabin but returned within a few minutes.
  • "I don't want to go, Netra. I don't want to miss you. Please give me a chance," Jeevith said.
  • "Jeevith, it's your wish to go or stay. But coming to our marriage, I can't be your wife. Frankly, I don't like the way you behaved with me. You said that I matched to your thoughts. But you didn't match my expectations. You always proved that my opinion is right about men. I didn't feel that you are different from those men. You are not one of a kind. You are one among them, and I can't give a chance to you. I am happy with my life. I don't want to invite any problems into my life," I said.
  • "You forgave Vikranth and gave a chance to him. Can't you forgive me and give a chance to me?" Jeevith asked.
  • "I forgave Vikranth and gave a chance to him to be a friend to me. I want someone to take care of the Home if something happens to me all of a sudden. I felt Vikranth is right for that job," I said.
  • "What if Vikranth cheats you?"
  • "He will never do that," I said confidently.
  • "How can you be so confident about Vikranth, the one who tried to kill you?"
  • "I trust Vikranth," I said.
  • "Hope he will never break your trust. Bye!" Jeevith said and left my cabin.
  • "Madam, shall we go?" Vikranth asked, coming into my cabin.
  • "Yes!" I said.
  • "Thank you for trusting me, madam," Vikranth said.
  • "I trust you, Vikranth. You no need to call me as a madam. Call me, Netra," I said, looking into his eyes.
  • "Sure, Netra," Vikranth said.
  • We went to the Home, and I explained many things about the Home to Vikranth. We had lunch with them and reached Home at night, having dinner outside. I got fresh up and about to sleep. I heard the door knock.
  • "Yes, come in!"
  • Serena came into my room.
  • "Madam, I want to talk to you for five minutes. Please madam," Serena said.
  • "Tell me!"
  • "I don't know why do you trust Vikranth too much. Everyone are talking wrongly about you both."
  • "Serena, if we go on caring about the words of this society, we can't live. Leave it!" I said.
  • "Madam, Jeevith sir loves you a lot," Serena said.
  • "Serena, you are my PA. Advising me about the deals for our company is appreciable. But interfering in my personal life is something which I hate the most. If you repeat it, I won't hesitate to appoint another PA in your place. You can go now," I said seriously.
  • Next day, Vikranth and I were talking in my cabin and Jeevith came there. I was laughing wholeheartedly after a long time talking to Vikranth. I noticed Jeevith fuming at Vikranth.
  • "Netra, I want to talk to you personally," Jeevith said.
  • "It's the office and not my home to talk personally about our issues, Mr Jeevith," I said.
  • "Netra, I want to talk to you right now," Jeevith said, holding my wrist tightly.
  • "Leave my hand!" I roared at him.
  • "Jeevith, leave her!" Vikranth said, freeing me from Jeevith's hold.
  • Jeevith punched Vikranth shocking me.
  • "Jeevith! What are you doing? Stop it!" I shouted at Jeevith, but he didn't stop hitting Vikranth. I noticed Vikranth's nose and lower lip bleeding with the hard punches of Jeevith. However, Vikranth didn't fight back except trying to escape from Jeevith's manhandling. I went to Jeevith and stopped him.
  • "How dare you to create nuisance in my office and hit Vikranth? I should never see your face again, or I will file the complaint against you for all this disturbance, Mr Jeevith. Get lost from here," I yelled at him.
  • "Netra, I love you. I just can't see you moving close to someone else. I am sorry for this, but I want to be with you forever," Jeevith said, holding my hands.
  • I freed my hands from his grip.
  • "Jeevith, this is not love. You are attracted to my nature which is different from others. So, your love for me will fade soon. Realise this fact. You need a girl who loves and cares for you. I am not of that type. I don't love you and can't make a family with you. Loving you or giving you an heir is something which I can't do. You will surely get disappointed with me.
  • My life and my ambitions are different. I can't dedicate my life for you or your family. I have many other things to do. I want to dedicate my life for those girls who are victimised by society. I want to save them and live for them. You can't understand this," I said.
