Chapter 1179 Regret Eating Him Alive

  • Especially Zheng Hongsheng—he never imagined Osmond Lestrange was a doctor. And even Wang Zhengliang had to call him a divine physician! Zheng knew full well Wang wasn’t the joking type. The man barely smiled, and he’d never mess around with something like this. Wang had always been proud of his own medical skills. If Osmond could make him bow his head, admitting he was outclassed, then what kind of miracle-worker was Osmond? Zheng suddenly remembered what Wang had said earlier—that Osmond, this divine physician, would surely be able to cure Zheng’s mother. Didn’t that mean Zheng had just driven away the one man who could save his mom with his own two hands? “Mr. Lestrange…” Zheng blurted, hurrying forward before he could think too much. “Little friend Lestrange…” Wang also stepped up, calling out. “The host told me to leave. I should go,” Osmond said with a faint smile, then pulled the door open. “Little friend, I’m going with you.” Wang’s stance was clear in a heartbeat, and he shot Zheng a frosty snort. “Mr. Wang, Mr. Lestrange! Don’t—don’t go!” Zheng rushed to the doorway to block them, that big-shot swagger nowhere to be seen. Big shot? So what? Big shots still get sick, still die. Money and power can’t buy life. But a divine physician like Wang could keep Zheng’s whole family safe and healthy. You couldn’t put a price tag on that. Compared to health and peace, face meant nothing. “Mr. Lestrange, I offended you just now. Please forgive me,” Zheng said, apologizing again and again. “You, Zheng Hongsheng—you never regret a thing. And now you’re slapping your own face this fast?” Osmond shot him a cool glance. “I’ve been ignorant,” Zheng said after a few seconds of silence, forcing the words out. Osmond just let out a cold laugh and walked out the door. “You just killed the one chance to save your mother,” Wang tossed over his shoulder, then followed Osmond out. Bang! Zheng smashed his fist into the wall. His mood was beyond words—suffocated, furious, sick with remorse. He felt like his guts were turning green with regret. Li Zhilin’s mood was even messier. He’d thought Osmond only knew Yang Zhen and Shen Lei. He never expected Osmond to be tight with Wang Zhengliang too. And according to Wang, Osmond’s medical skills were downright magical. Wang could only ease Zheng’s mother’s illness, but Osmond might actually cure her. That thought sent a bad chill through Li’s chest. Yilin Real Estate’s last trump card was Zheng. If Zheng wanted to cozy up to Osmond now, he sure wouldn’t care whether Yilin lived or died. If it really came to that, Li’s years of hard work might go up in smoke. “Mr. Zheng, don’t buy what Osmond’s selling. He’s too young. How could he be some divine physician?” Li finally lifted his head and offered his take. “Are you saying Mr. Wang would lie?” Zheng shot back. “Would he hype Osmond just to fool me? You know who Mr. Wang is.” That shut Li up. In Fairlake’s high society, Wang’s name was huge. Government big shots and business tycoons alike treated him with reverence. What he said was like gospel to them. If he told them to eat greens tonight, they wouldn’t dare touch meat. When people stop worrying about money, they start chasing a better life, caring about their health. To those big shots, Wang was basically a deity. Why would he lie for Osmond? “So—what now?” Zheng muttered, jaw tight as he looked at Li. If not for Li’s mess, he wouldn’t have burned this bridge with Osmond in the first place. “Mr. Zheng, I still think there’s something fishy here. If Osmond’s really that capable, why’s he dabbling in business? He could make endless money just treating people.” Li sat in silence for a few seconds, still clinging to his view. Zheng kept sighing. Honestly, he didn’t fully believe that a twenty-something kid could be that miraculous. But if anyone else said it, he’d scoff. Coming from Wang—what choice did he have but to believe? “Whether he’s the real deal, we can test him. But right now…” Zheng let out a long breath and sank onto the couch. Right now, he’d already offended Osmond to the bone. Osmond would never lift a finger. “The terms he laid out earlier… maybe you should agree,” Zheng said suddenly, glancing at Li. “What?” Li’s face changed on the spot. Osmond had offered five hundred million to acquire Yilin Real Estate. If Li agreed, he’d lose his shirt and then some. No way in hell. “Mr. Zheng, give me a little time. I’ll dig into this properly. I’ll get you an answer by midnight at the latest,” Li said, eyes flicking as he gritted his teeth. “Understand this—without me keeping a lid on things, Yilin can blow up any minute. So don’t play petty games,” Zheng warned with a cold snort. “Yes, yes,” Li bobbed his head, not daring another word. … Meanwhile, Osmond got into the car at Wang’s invitation. “Little friend, what’s the beef between you and Zheng? Can I do anything to help?” Wang asked, earnest. Osmond met Wang’s gaze, and his lips tipped into a small smile. He’d honestly not expected Wang’s name to be that massive in Fairlake, or his connections that broad. With Wang’s help, his plan would go down a whole lot smoother.
