Chapter 7 Wasted Treasure

  • Upon hearing that, Kieran bent over and looked down at Osmond.
  • He then spoke so softly that his words could only be heard by both of them. “Well, I want to. What can you do about it? Do you really think I'm interested in your belongings, anyway? Hm... Then again, there's a saying that women are like clothes. Surely you understand what it means if I wear your clothes, right?”
  • At that, Kieran suddenly straightened his body for fear of getting slapped by Osmond.
  • Osmond's eyes glinted coldly. Deep down, he had given Kieran a death sentence.
  • “Old Mrs. Quantrill, this is for you.” Kieran slowly placed the expensive piece of emerald in front of Abigail.
  • It had exquisite packaging, which gave it a high-quality vibe.
  • The sight of it filled Abigail with delight.
  • “That's so thoughtful of you, Mr. Zeller.” She smiled, extremely pleased.
  • This is the difference between Osmond and me.
  • Kieran turned around and asked intentionally, “Tsk. It's fine when Osmond was still a dimwit back then. How could he not give anything to Old Mrs. Quantrill for her birthday now that he's recovered?”
  • “Kieran, this is the gift the dimwit gave.” Xavier raised his hand, waving the brown pill in the air.
  • Kieran took it from him and asked with a frown, “What's this?”
  • Xavier snickered and explained, “That's the dimwit's present for Grandma. He says it's some kind of pill that can completely cure all kinds of illness.”
  • Kieran pretended to sniff it like an expert. In the next second, he threw it to the ground and stomped on it.
  • A smirk formed on Osmond's face as he watched the scene unfold before him.
  • “Osmond,” Constance hissed, placing her hand on his shoulder.
  • Exhaling, Osmond slowly relaxed his body and kept his cool.
  • “Old Mrs. Quantrill, this is not a pill. I don't know if it can cure illnesses, but bad things might happen if you eat it without actually knowing what it is,” Kieran explained in a serious manner while scoffing inwardly.
  • “D*mn! Is he trying to poison Old Mrs. Quantrill?”
  • “Mr. Zeller's family runs a pharmaceutical business. He must be telling the truth.”
  • “Osmond, you ungrateful rascal. Are you trying to kill Grandma?”
  • Kieran's words placed Osmond in the center of gossip again.
  • Suddenly, Osmond lifted his head and said to the crowd, “That pill was one of a kind.”
  • “What do you mean?” Kieran asked, chuckling coldly.
  • However, Osmond merely shook his head, not wanting to explain further.
  • Bethany stepped forward and reprimanded, “Constance, do you remember how you wanted to cut ties with Grandma just to take in this dimwit two years ago? Look at what your actions have caused. This ungrateful rascal wants to harm Grandma now. What on earth were you thinking?”
  • “I...” Constance was bereft of words.
  • She had no idea where Osmond got the pill from.
  • Moreover, she did not expect to be criticized even more once Osmond had recovered.
  • “Sure, he's a dimwit, which explains why he's messing around. But are you going to play along with him? Constance, you've really let me down.” Abigail glared at Constance, snorting coldly.
  • At that moment, both Constance and Osmond had once again become targets of the crowd's reprimands.
  • “You guys aren't welcome here. Please leave,” Bethany said to Constance, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
  • Abigail and the rest of the Quantrill family did not speak up for Constance.
  • “Please don't be mad, Grandma. There must be some sort of misunderstanding here. I'll give you an explanation once I get to the bottom of it.” Sighing gently, Constance slowly pushed Osmond toward the door.
  • I can't believe I'm chased out of my own family member's birthday party.
  • No one knew how aggrieved Constance felt at that moment.
  • Initially, Kieran wanted Constance to stay. However, he changed his mind when he thought of his following plans.
  • “Mm... The air feels much better now that the dimwit is gone,” Xavier remarked wittily, snickering.
  • The crowd roared with laughter.
  • Even Flora laughed along.
  • Deep down, she never saw Osmond as her son-in-law. After all, he was not legally married to Constance yet.
  • Thus, Flora did not think Osmond's embarrassing moments had anything to do with her.
  • “Old Mrs. Quantrill, since it's your birthday today, I'd like to announce something,” Flora informed, standing up slowly.
  • “Go on.” Abigail gestured for her to speak with a wave of her hand.
  • “Since the dimwit has recovered, I think it's time he leaves the Quantrill residence. Two years ago, countless wealthy young men in Jadeborough constantly visited our residence to ask for Constance's hand in marriage. Sadly, ever since Osmond's arrival, her reputation has been ruined, and people have stopped coming to propose to her. And now, Osmond has recovered. The Quantrill family has been incredibly kind to him. We can't let him get in Constance's way anymore.”
  • The moment Flora said those words, everyone in the room nodded in agreement.
  • They agreed it was very kind of Constance to have taken care of Osmond for two whole years.
  • Now that he had recovered, he could not stay in the Quantrill residence anymore.
  • “Very well said. Constance's reputation is indeed ruined by him. No one in Jadeborough dares to ask for her hand in marriage now,” Abigail mumbled, her brows knitted.
  • The hearts of the heirs of prominent families in Jadeborough skipped the second they heard that.
  • Truth was, they were more than willing to take Constance's hand in marriage.
  • After all, Constance was one of the most beautiful women in Jadeborough.
  • Furthermore, Osmond had never laid a hand on Constance during the past two years.
  • Even if he did, there would still be someone who was willing to marry her.
  • Just then, Kieran placed his hand on his chest and said, “Old Mrs. Quantrill, I would like to marry Constance. If you agree to it, I'll ask for her hand in marriage right away.”
  • Abigail's heart leaped with joy when she heard his words.
  • As a new prestigious family in Jadeborough, the Zeller family had unlimited potential to rise in their ranks.
  • If the Quantrill and the Zeller family could have a marriage connection, the former's situation would change, and they could even recover their status as one of the first-rate prestigious families.
  • Abigail agreed without hesitation.
  • Suddenly, the doorman yelled, “Dorian Linnell, the owner of Linnell Pharmaceuticals, has come to attend Old Mrs. Quantrill's birthday party!”
  • Everyone in the room was shocked.
  • Linnell Pharmaceuticals was one of the most established businesses in Jadeborough.
  • In fact, they were the number one drug supplier in the whole of Jadeborough.
  • Even the Zeller family was no match for Linnell Pharmaceuticals in terms of the drug supply business.
  • Most importantly, the Linnell family was a prestigious family in the medical field. Not only did they sell medicines, but they also treated patients.
  • They were not just an ordinary drug supplier.
  • Soon, a middle-aged man stepped into the room with an elderly person behind him.
  • Dorian Linnell stepped forward, holding a tiny box in his hand. “Old Mrs. Quantrill, Linnell Pharmaceuticals would like to gift you a Rejuvenating and Revitalizing Pill. It can prolong your life, nourish your body, and delay aging.”
  • “Thank you, Mr. Linnell. Please have a seat.” Abigail quickly stood up, beaming happily.
  • Meanwhile, the Quantrill family was shocked to the core. A pill that comes from Linnell Pharmaceuticals must be a treasure!
  • Suddenly, the elderly man beside Dorian sniffed the air, asking, “What's that smell?”
  • “What smell?”
  • Everyone was bewildered.
  • “No... This smell... It's...”
  • After carefully analyzing it, the elderly man's eyes widened, and he started searching around the room.
  • In the next second, he shoved Kieran out of the way and squatted on the ground.
  • His eyes widened as he stared at the pill Kieran had squashed.
  • Gasping, he exclaimed, “This... This... What a waste! What a waste of great treasure!”
