• Jasper caught the dazed look on her face and gently roused, “Lara, we have to go now, or we’ll be running late.” It was a Monday, which meant plenty of parents would be on the school run.
• Without another word, Jasper picked Levi up and carried him while Lara took Alice by the hand. Then, they made their way downstairs.
• “Mr. and Mrs. Huntley! Are the both of you dropping the kids off at school?” the neighbor called out jovially upon seeing Lara and Jasper coming out of the apartment building.
