Chapter 111 Leo's Vigil
- The penthouse was dark except for the glow of the city through the wide glass windows. Leo sat in his study, hunched over the edge of his desk with his head in his hands. The city skyline blurred into streaks of white and red, but he wasn’t really seeing it. His mind was fixed on Zara, on the sound of her voice when she had looked at him and asked, “Who are you?”
- Those words still hollowed him out every time they echoed back. He had thought he’d endured every kind of pain betrayal from Jayden, his stepfather’s venom, his mother’s death. But nothing compared to Zara not knowing him.
- He should have been grateful she was alive at all. The doctors had said the fall could have ended differently. But survival came with a cruel twist delayed amnesia, stripping away the bond they had rebuilt so painstakingly over the past months. A bond forged in late nights, whispered truths, and one stolen kiss in the rain.
