Chapter 17 Zack Seinfeld

  • When Coco Investments became famous, Zack Seinfeld, the vice president of Coco Investments, became a sought-after target. Many businessmen were keen on pursuing Coco Investments' president. However, nobody had seen anyone in charge of the company other than Zack, let alone know who the actual president was.
  • At first, rumors and gossip were going around in the business world that Zack most likely came from an extremely wealthy family. Moreover, the position of the president might have been reserved for his father. The possibility of foreign investment in Coco Investments Incorporated was also the subject of speculation. Since it was not convenient to go through various procedures for foreign investment, they simply invested under Zack's name. However, after working with Coco Investments for a long time, rumors began to fade. It didn't matter who the president of Coco Investments was as long as they maintained a normal cooperative relationship with them. Therefore, whenever anyone mentioned Coco Investments, they naturally thought of Zack, and nobody bothered to learn the identity of the company's president. In any case, Zack was the one who had the final say on any incoming investment project. As long as he gave his approval, it didn't matter who the president was anymore.
  • Elias and Raven stood under Block G of New Era International. He pointed to the building and said, "This is the office building invested by Coco Investments."
  • "Which floor?" Raven asked, her head tilted up.
  • "The entire building. It was bought three years ago, and the value has increased significantly in recent years," Elias replied.
  • "Cool." Raven smiled.
  • She contemplated whether or not to invest in properties as well.
  • He smirked and walked inside, accompanied by Raven.
  • When the receptionist saw Elias, she immediately greeted him with the utmost respect.
  • The lady approached enthusiastically with light in her eyes. She bowed and greeted, "You're here, Mr. Mort."
  • He responded lightly, so she quickly walked over to press the elevator dedicated to the president, made a gesture of invitation, and uttered respectfully, "This way, please."
  • Even though the receptionist called Elias, Mr. Mort, and not Mr. Mortimer, one could tell that she respected him very much. The type of respect was by no means an ordinary polite attitude toward the general manager of a cooperative company. With that, Elias made a gentle gesture of invitation to Raven. After Raven walked into the elevator, he strode in. The elevator stopped on the 66th floor. As soon as it opened, three women in professional suits stood on each side of the elevator door. When the six of them saw Elias, they bowed their heads. Their etiquette was in place, respectful but not too humble.
  • A woman spoke respectfully, "Mr. Mort, Mr. Sein told us to wait for you here."
  • "Is he in the office?" Elias asked casually.
  • "Yes, he is," the woman replied immediately.
  • Elias took a step forward with Raven. As they approached the door of an office, they noticed a white suit sitting at the desk and writing something.
  • He shouted, "Zack!"
  • The person in the chair jumped up instantly, clearly excited. "You're here."
  • "Are the materials ready?" Elias inquired.
  • "I'm getting it ready." After Zack finished his sentence, he looked at Raven, beside Elias, with a pair of gossipy eyes before smiling. "Is this your wife?"
  • Raven's ears couldn't help but turn warm.
  • Elias hummed and introduced them, "This is Raven, my wife. This is Zack, the vice president of Coco Investments, who is also a good friend of mine. We..."
  • After a pause, Elias uttered, "We've been through a lot together."
  • His tone was calm, but Raven's heart trembled slightly because of that sentence. She thought there must be a sad story behind them.
  • On the contrary, Zack didn't bother with what Elias had said. Grinning like a blooming flower, he greeted Raven warmly, "Nice to meet you, Raven."
  • "Nice to meet you too." Raven returned a smile and a nod at Zack.
  • Zack looked about the same age as Elias and was also very handsome. However, the two seemed to be opposites in terms of looks. Zack exuded a warm aura, like a boy next door vibe. He appeared to be able to heal everyone that approached him. On the contrary, Elias was handsomely aloof. He exuded a distant aura. Even if one stood beside him, they could feel his sense of distance. Even when he was talking to someone, he was intimidating and did not look approachable at all. However, his coldness wasn't intentional. It was as if it was natural to him like he was born with it.
  • "Transfer two billion to Lancaster Incorporated by today. If the press conference for the media can't be done today, make sure to get it done by tomorrow," Elias ordered.
  • "It has to be done by today." Zack blinked excitedly with a pair of peach-blossom eyes and pointed at what he had just written on the document on the table. "I've written all the precautions and will proceed with it right away."
  • Zack had been waiting for this moment for a long time. How could he not make it right by today?
  • "OK," Elias replied curtly.
  • Afterward, Zack dialed the landline. His secretary came in shortly after, so he handed a document to her, and he instructed, "Get it done right away."
  • Then, the secretary left in a hurry.
  • This time, Zack smiled attentively at Raven and urged, "Take a seat, Raven."
  • She was a little flustered, so Elias uttered, "Go ahead."
  • Elias sat down on the couch first, and Raven followed suit.
  • Zack smiled and inquired, "What would you like to drink, Raven?"
  • "Coffee, please," she replied.
  • Raven had always preferred coffee because, as a programmer, she would often burn the midnight oil, so coffee could help her stay awake.
  • Zack's smile grew wider as he commented, "You two are a good match. Elias loves coffee too."
  • Then, Zack picked up the landline on the table and asked the secretary to deliver two cups of coffee.
  • Once that was done, Zack sat in the executive chair. He didn't treat Raven as an outsider and placed his legs up on the desk in disregard of his image as he made a call, "Hello, Mr. Lancaster."
  • "Yes, I am Zack Seinfeld from Coco Investments."
  • "You're being too polite. Please send me your corporate account number as our president instructed me to pay two billion to Lancaster Incorporated as a dowry gift for Miss Raven."
  • "Who's our president? It's Elias Mortimer. Weren't you aware of that?" When Zack said that, he couldn't help but snicker.
  • He even put the phone away, leaned back in the chair exaggeratedly, and laughed while tilting his neck upward.
  • Then, Zack put away his smile, held the phone close, and said in a serious tone, "You should be aware that I am only the vice president of Coco Investments."
  • "Uhm, Mr. Mortimer is very busy and trusts me, so I've always been the one to handle Coco Investments' errands. He didn't even have time to visit Coco Investments in recent years, so you must have misunderstood that I was the president of Coco Investments. I'm sorry." Zack imagined Gideon's distorted face on the other end of the phone. He smirked wickedly, feeling a sense of thrill of getting his revenge.
  • Last night, Elias told him everything that had happened in the past two days. No one knew how shocked he was when he learned that Elias did not marry Miss Iris but Miss Raven. After knowing he was drugged during dinner, he was heartbroken and felt extremely bad for his friend.
