Chapter 13 A Shady Mistress

  • Iris felt she had just vented in vain when she noticed Raven wasn't angry.
  • Iris rolled her eyes, lowered her voice, and said with a smug smirk, "That's why I'm going to use ten million to repurchase the bungalow. Raven, look at how calculative you are. You took the money and bungalow away, but it will return to my hands soon. I can even make a net profit of two million. How do you feel now? Are you upset? Angry? Infuriated? Aggrieved?"
  • Raven couldn't help but laugh. "Why should I be upset, angry, infuriated, or aggrieved? You don't know how wonderful I feel right now. I don't care whatever happened between you and Elias before this, but all I know is that the bungalow is still under my name. As long as I don't sell it, it will always be my property. Besides, the sixty million is still lying in my account. Oh, by the way, on the day I received the sixty million, I started investing. Now, I have more than eight thousand in income every day. Isn't that great? If I get more than eight thousand a day, I earn about 245 thousand a month. This amount of money is enough for me to live a cozy life. After all, I've never had a living expense before. In the future, I will have hundreds of thousands in income every month to the point that I don't know how to spend it."
  • "You..." When Iris saw how smug Raven was, her mood turned sullen.
  • Raven smiled again and said, "You can't buy the bungalow even if you want to. I decided not to sell it. I'll keep it to myself for the rest of my life. If you have nothing else to tell me, I'm leaving."
  • Then, Raven grabbed her bag and prepared to leave.
  • "Stop!" Iris' expression was ugly now.
  • She came to stimulate Raven and agitate her, but why did she get upset instead?
  • "Is there anything else?" Raven smiled like a flower in full bloom.
  • "Raven, do you feel proud of earning the money you got by selling your body?" Iris deliberately raised her voice to humiliate her and shatter her heart.
  • Iris couldn't stand seeing Raven happy. Raven took the money from the Lancasters, all of which belonged to the Lancasters. Moreover, it was apparent that she was married to an illegitimate child, yet she still acted complacently. How sick!
  • Sure enough, Iris' words attracted the curious gaze of customers in the cafe. Some young men and women who were sipping on their drinks suddenly began to gossip with each other.
  • "Tsk. She sold her body?"
  • "Well, she is pretty."
  • "Pfft, how shameful!"
  • "What a spiteful woman!"
  • Raven pulled a cold expression as she listened to the whispered discussions. There was a note of caution in her voice as she said, "Iris, know your limits."
  • She admitted that the statement 'sell your body' hurt her heart. That was because it came from a close family she used to regard as betraying her in exchange for investment funds.
  • Iris thought the change in Raven's expression was due to fear of the sudden voices. She thought she had finally found Raven's weakness and continued proudly, "Do you really think you've sold yourself to a good family? He is just an illegitimate child. Just like you, an embarrassment. No matter how romantic you spend the rest of your life, the two of you will forever be an embarrassment."
  • Raven reached out and held the coffee cup in front of her. Her voice was cold as she warned, "Shut up, Iris!"
  • The young men and women watching them stood up and surrounded them. Each of them appeared nosy, eager to watch a good show.
  • Iris became even more worked up now. "Did I say something wrong? Isn't he an illegitimate child? Are you not an illegitimate daughter? After so many years, do you know who your father is? Is he tall or short, fat or thin, rich or poor, good or bad? Have you seen him before?"
  • At the mention of her father, Raven felt a tug at her heartstrings.
  • Raven had been involved with computers since she was 12 years old. Since then, she would drown herself in programming-related books in the school library. Every time the school's computer room opened, she would put the theory she had learned into practice and write programs according to the books. In less than half a year, her ability to write programs was way better than her teachers. When her teacher noticed her talent in programming, she allowed her to use the computer room even after school hours. In addition to that, her teacher would share some programming experience with her. Hence, she made rapid progress because of that. Besides having talent in programming, she was also obsessed with computers.
  • Why? Because Raven wanted to find her father. She didn't want to see him but wanted to ask why he abandoned her and her mother. She had always had an abyss-like wound in her heart. If her father hadn't left her mother, her mother would not have entrusted her to the Lancasters, and her mother might not have died in a car crash. Although she didn't understand anything when her mother left, she knew that her mother loved her the most in this world.
  • It was a wound that could never be healed. Blood would drip when someone pried it open, and Raven would feel like a spear had pierced her heart. She knew that trying to find a stranger was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Despite that, she believed that if she mastered the skills of programming and hacked every system available out there, she would be able to find that stranger she would call 'Dad'.
  • Therefore, she had been obsessed with learning programming. When she was 13 years old, she began to be exposed to hacking programs, and then she got out of control. At fourteen, she started taking orders from clients to hack into systems independently. She used the identity of Mr. Dwayne to carry out her missions. However, she never took orders to hack for illegal purposes or steal accounts. She only took repairing programs and guarded databases. By the age of sixteen, she also worked as a financial trader in addition to taking orders from hackers.
  • She invested the money she made as a hacker. From sixteen to twenty, she had always had a unique vision for four years. Once she decided on an investment, she would throw in double the amount. Since then, she'd amassed a wealth of nearly ten billion from the tens of millions she'd started with. Therefore, she was never short of money at all.
  • After being plotted against by the Lancasters, asking for sixty million dollars and the bungalow was not for money. Instead, she wanted to declare her stance that she would no longer be obedient to them like she used to be.
  • Now that Iris had mentioned her father, she felt a sharp knife stabbing her heart.
  • Raven couldn't help but raise her voice. "Iris! Shut up! Shut your mouth!"
  • When Iris finally provoked Raven's emotions, she continued smugly, "Why should I shut up? Can't I tell the truth? Do you know why your mother sent you to our family? Because your mother is a mistress, a shady mistress..."
  • Hearing the word 'mistress' Raven instantly exuded an intimidating aura. She could no longer hold it in. Lifting the coffee's lid, she splashed the cup of coffee on Iris' face. The brown-colored coffee, as well as the extra ingredients inside, were splashed all over Iris' face.
  • In an instant, Iris raised her hand to slap Raven in the face, but she noticed a tall figure striding over, so she quickly retracted her hand. Her nasty expression instantly turned pitiful, and her voice sounded like someone being bullied. "Raven, just tell me if you're not willing to sell the bungalow. Why do you have to do this to me?"
  • The customers quickly pointed at Raven and started judging.
  • "How outrageous!"
  • "Is she for real? How could she stop people from saying it when she's the one at fault? How bold of her?"
  • "Exactly! She's crossing the line. I've never seen anyone as brazen as her."
  • "The moral degeneration in this society is getting worse day by day. We see all kinds of people now."
  • Raven was speechless.
