Chapter 10 The Business Card

  • "Get out of the way!" Elias' voice was cold.
  • Cayden raised his eyebrows and sneered, "Elias, do you know why Grandpa had the operation? It's because of you!"
  • He fixed his gaze on Cayden, and his eyebrows knitted. Then, Cayden stretched out his finger and poked Elias' chest with a disdainful tone. "Everyone was upset because even though you are an illegitimate child, Grandpa wants to give the same amount of investment money for your marriage. When Aria and I got married, it is reasonable for the Mortimer Family to invest 3 billion, but why do you deserve 3 billion too? You don't deserve equal treatment. From the moment you were born, you can't be treated equally because you are only an illegitimate child. Elias, you don't deserve even 1 billion!"
  • "We don't need any investment money at all," Raven couldn't help but speak up.
  • Cayden smiled wickedly and contemptuously. "You don't want any? Do you want to fake your reputation? Do you remember what you did earlier?"
  • Elias pulled Raven behind him and looked at Cayden with a cold face. "Just come at me. This has nothing to do with Raven. I will pay the investment myself, and I won't use the Mortimer Family's money. Now, please let me go in."
  • "Your money? Where will you get the money? Everything you own belongs to the Mortimer Family, including your life." Leonard growled.
  • Leonard hated Elias because he hated Tessa. He hated that woman for being heartless.
  • Vivian agreed, "Yeah, you have been fed and clothed by the Mortimers since you were 12 years old. All of your money belongs to the family. Can you take out 1 billion? Wow, your grandpa is so kind to you, huh? How much did he give you in private?"
  • Raven felt Elias clenching his fists. She immediately reached out to hold his hand. Looking at him, she shook her head gently, then mouthed the word "Grandpa" at him.
  • Elias' heart tightened, then he pulled Raven, turned around, and left.
  • Yes, his grandpa was the most important person in his life. Joseph hadn't woken up yet, so it didn't make sense for them to quarrel here. He came here just to see his grandpa. The doctor in charge would know better about Joseph's situation. He didn't need to spend time with this group of people.
  • "Elias, even if you're shameless, the Mortimer Family will never be your home," Leonard shouted behind Elias' back.
  • Elias paused but continued to walk forward. Then, Raven held Elias' hand. She pretended to be calm and whispered, "I'm a little hungry. Let's go and eat later."
  • "Okay," Elias responded.
  • He took Raven to find Joseph's attending doctor. After Elias asked about the situation, he left a personal business card for the attending doctor. Then, he politely said to the attending doctor, "Dr. Lent, please, if my grandpa wakes up, please call me."
  • The attending doctor was initially polite because Elias was one of the Mortimers. However, when he saw "President of Coco Investments" printed on the business card, his eyes widened, and he was even more polite.
  • "O-Okay, don't worry! When your grandpa wakes up, I will call you as soon as possible."
  • "Thank you." Elias led Raven away.
  • Initially, he didn't want people to know that he was the boss of Coco Investments. Unfortunately, this world was too realistic, and people without any identity would always be looked down upon.
  • Not long after Elias left, Cayden received a call from Aria. When they learned that Joseph had an operation, everyone rushed over.
  • Lori and Gideon did a fabulous acting job, and their worried expressions were as if their father was hospitalized. What about the surgery? When would he wake up? What did they need to pay attention to when he woke up? They were most extraordinarily attentive.
  • Aria took Cayden aside and asked him if Coco Investments had any business relationship with Mortimer Group. In particular, was there any business relationship with the branch where Elias worked?
  • Cayden thought for a while and told Aria that Mortimer Group and Coco Investments had business dealings before and that Coco Investments only had business dealings with Elias' branch. Joseph had always been partial toward Elias. The projects invested by Coco Investments were all good projects, and Joseph gave all the projects funded by Coco Investments to Elias' branch. This bias toward Elias was just to provide Elias with better performance output so that Elias could be transferred to the head office.
  • Aria was relieved to learn that Coco Investments had nothing to do with Elias. She took Iris and Lori aside and told them that she had asked clearly that Coco Investments had nothing to do with Elias. It was Joseph who favored Elias and wanted to help him, so he gave all the projects invested by Coco Investments to Elias' branch.
  • Iris immediately scorned, mocked, and disdained Elias. "I knew he couldn't be Coco Investments' boss. Like Raven, he is a shameless thing. I'll call that slut Raven in a while to say I want to repurchase the bungalow. Not only do I want to repurchase the bungalow, but I also have to tell her that the money was given by Elias. Haha, her face will be extraordinarily twisted then. It took her so much effort to get it, and now not only did it come back to me, but I also made a net profit of 2 million, so I'm just so happy."
  • Lori echoed with bright eyes, "Yes, buy it back. Purchase it with her husband's money, and let her know that not only did we have nothing to lose, but we also made a net profit of 2 million. Hmph, how dare she fight with us? She is still too young."
  • ...
  • Elias led Raven out of the hospital. He turned his head and asked her, "What would you like to eat?"
  • "I'm not picky. Do you have anything you want to eat?" she asked.
  • "I'm not a picky eater either," he said.
  • Raven smiled and used her phone to search for several restaurants near the hospital on the Internet. Then, she suggested, "There is a café one mile from here. Shall we go there to eat? It's close, and we can go to the hospital right away when grandpa wakes up."
  • "Okay," he agreed.
  • He stretched out his hand and took Raven's hand, and they walked forward.
  • Soon, Raven gently let go of his hand, and she whispered, "No one from the Mortimer Family is around."
  • "Yeah," Elias responded and stopped holding Raven's hand.
  • The two walked forward side by side.
  • He spoke first, "How are they treating you in the Lancaster Residence?"
  • Raven thought for a while and said, "I used to be happy!"
  • When Raven didn't know much, although she felt their favoritism, she thought it was because of her unpleasant character. She never doubted that she was not an actual descendant of the Lancaster Family. So, at that time, she was happy.
  • Elias saw that Raven didn't want to mention more, so he didn't ask anymore. After the two entered the cafe, they sat down at a table by the window. Then, he handed the menu to Raven. After ordering a light meal, she asked him for his opinion.
  • "I'm going to order chicken chop. How about you? Do you want the same? Or do you want something else?"
  • "I'm okay with it," Elias said.
  • Raven smiled slightly and said to the waiter, "Two servings of chicken chop, thank you."
  • The waiter had just left when Raven's phone rang.
