• “ Noah, why don’t you go and play outside for a while?”
• Noah did not argue, and that worried Aria. He had been quiet and withdrawn ever since their mother’s death. It was expected, of course, but that did not make it any easier to watch. She hated seeing the light gone from his eyes. The door slammed behind him as he left, and Aria found herself staring at the closed wood, feeling an ache spread through her chest.
