Chapter 14 Fourteen
- Shane’s deep voice trailed off, his eyes locking with mine, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “I didn’t expect to see you here. Funny thing is that my apartment flooded and I need somewhere to stay for the week while they are fixing it. I wasn't stalking you or anything…”
- I swallowed hard, trying to collect myself as I stood frozen in place. “I… didn’t expect to see you here either.” My voice came out weaker than I’d intended, and I felt Zoey’s hand grip my arm tightly from behind.
- I couldn’t respond. My throat had gone dry as I stared at Shane, who casually leaned against the doorframe, as if this situation wasn’t awkward enough. The towel hung low on his hips, and I forced my gaze to stay on his face, but even that wasn’t helping. His smug expression told me he knew exactly the effect he had on me.
