Chapter 13 Thirteen
- Jackson's eyes crossed with mine and he laughed, pretending not to hear my remarks. He rose from the chair, adjusted his suit and said. “Get out of this office before 9pm, I don't want Mr. Shepherd thinking I slave my workers to death.”
- Teasingly, I sighed and he left the room. I made my way from the chair to my coat hanger on the wall, wearing up my furry brown coat and packing up. Through that, I checked my phone for Denny's reply but got nothing other than an unanswered chat.
- I pushed the phone into my pocket, taking as much time as I needed to assimilate and headed out for the exit. The cold night air hit my face as soon as I stepped out of the company. I took a moment to gather my thoughts.
