Chapter 5 Bodyguard

  • || STEFANO's POV ||
  • My assistant, Luca came looking for me. The moment he saw the girl in my arms, his jaw dropped in shock. Well, I couldn't just leave her on the street.
  • Earlier that day, I found out that the traitor who leaked our location in America was in the hospital. To avoid identity leakage, I decided to investigate alone. After all, no one knew that I was the underworld Don, Mr. Devil.
  • After I changed my clothes, as soon as I pushed the door open, I ran into this girl who looked all scared and sobbing.
  • Luca asked, his eyes falling on the girl in my arms,
  • " Who is she?"
  • But for an instant, his eyes shifted to the wound on my shoulder and he gasped in shock,
  • " Fuck. What happened to you? Who gave you a wound?"
  • Luca wasn't my assistant but he was the only friend who grew up with me and knew my identity very well. He couldn't believe that someone had managed to hurt me actually.
  • I didn't even bother answering his question. I ordered coldly, holding her up,
  • " Get the damn car ready. She needs to go to the hospital. She has probably fainted because of blood."
  • Luca didn't care about anything else except my wound. He suggested, pointing at the guy,
  • " Let them carry her. You shouldn't...."
  • I didn't heed his words. Walking past them, I carefully carried the girl into my car. The image of her being carried by another man bothered me deeply.
  • Luca scowled in frustration but he better knew when to keep his mouth shut. No one could change my mind. What I said was said. Without a word, Luca followed me into the parking lot.
  • The car sped to the hospital fast. The doctors were already at my command and they began to treat the girl as soon as we were there. On Luca's insistence, my wound was treated as well. My injury was bandaged but the doctor firmly told me to stay in the hospital for a few days.
  • Was he crazy? I survived more vital attacks and it was nothing.
  • I replied coldly, rolling my eyes in irritation,
  • " I will follow my own rules. You don't have to check on me."
  • As soon as the doctor walked out, I moved to see the girl lying on the bed. Her face was pale as if she had lost all the innocence on her face. Lucas cleared his throat awkwardly and started speaking,
  • " She is well now. She just hit my trauma. I have found out about her already. She is Leah Sinclair, youngest daughter of Richard Sinclair."
  • I nodded slowly, wondering what happened to this girl to go through such a miserable situation. Even the Sinclair family paid no attention to it.
  • Luca started bluffing again, checking through his iPad,
  • " By the way, you told me to find out the girl who slept with you in Los Angeles. I have found her but she was keeping her face down. You should see and...."
  • I cut him off coldly, knowing where it was leading,
  • " No need!"
  • Luca gave me a baffled look. For the past few days, I have been pressuring him day and night to identify the interesting girl. Leah moaned on the bed and began to open her eyes slowly. I stepped out immediately to call the doctor on duty. Luca was right behind me.
  • By the time, I reached in front of her room with the doctor, I heard her shouting at a guy. Their conversation sounded aggressive and raged.
  • " I told you to stay away from me, Dash!"
  • " No baby! I can't get you out of my mind."
  • " Dash, you have married my sister. You should be with her. I don't want to hear accusations from Ivy."
  • " Baby! We were together for so many years. We can still start together, baby."
  • " Together what? Be your Mistress? Fuck you, Dash! Even your thoughts are making me disgusted."
  • " Damn it, Slut. Who would want you except me?"
  • The man was furious. He stormed to Leah’s bedside, leaned over, and wrapped his hands tightly around her neck, madness blazing in his eyes.
  • Leah was so weak, she barely had the strength to fight back. She let him hurt her without resistance.
  • I couldn't stand my anger anymore. Pushing the door open, I stepped in, grabbing his wrist where he was choking her and yanking him off with all my strength.
  • “Who said no one excepts her?”
  • The words burst out of my mouth before I could stop them. I had no idea why I said it, but deep down, I knew one thing—
  • No one was allowed to hurt her. Not while I was around.
  • I turned to look at Leah. She was gasping for air, her face pale from the lack of oxygen.
  • I stepped closer, my voice low and steady. “Who is he? Did he hurt you, Miss Sinclair?”
  • I waited for her answer but she said nothing and kept her head down, biting her lip so hard it almost bled.
  • The man, thrown off balance, stumbled back and crashed into the wall. Once he realized what had happened, he roared and charged at me with a clenched fist.
  • But I had already seen it coming. A second before his fist reached me, I caught his wrist mid-air, spun around, and slammed him to the floor.
  • The move was clean, fast, and without hesitation. Instinctively, I reached for the mini pistol I always carried, pressing the cold barrel firmly against the back of his head.
  • He froze. The deadly chill of the metal made his whole body stiffen, and his voice trembled.
  • “I… I’m her brother-in-law! Who the hell are you?”
