Chapter 19 Alone With Him

• Stefano opened the car door for Leah, and she slid into the passenger seat. Before she could reach for the seatbelt herself, he leaned in, grabbed it, and fastened it securely around her. Their eyes met, and he was so close that her heart skipped a beat. He slowly pulled away, rounded the car, and slid into the driver’s seat, taking his place behind the wheel. Only then did Leah feel like she could breathe again.
• No one had ever shown her such care before. Yet, this cold, stoic bodyguard—whom she had never even seen smile—was displaying more tenderness than she had experienced in her entire life. Sometimes, she wondered if he even knew how to smile.
• Lost in thought, she absentmindedly turned toward her bodyguard and caught him stealing glances at her. A blush crept up her cheeks as she bit her lip and whispered, "Eyes on the road, Mr. Bodyguard."
