• Leah didn’t leave her room. She hadn’t even had breakfast, and no matter how much Stefano tried, she refused to talk to him. Frustrated, he sent a few maids to call her, but she turned them away, refusing to come down.
• Stefano felt miserable as if he were the one starving because Leah wasn’t eating. She already looked so delicate, and after going without food the previous day, she seemed to be fasting again. The mere thought of her beautiful face losing its glow and her body growing weak made his blood boil. He would cross oceans if he had to, just to get her to the breakfast table.
• Without another thought, he stormed up to her room and banged on the door, his voice laced with warning. “Cuore mio, if you don’t come out in five minutes, I swear I will break down this door and throw you over my shoulder to carry you downstairs.”
