Chapter 94

  • ZACH’S POV
  • As I sipped the tea, my mind wandered back to Malia. The way she had looked at me earlier, with so much gratitude and yet so much pain in her eyes, haunted me. I wanted to take that pain away, to make everything better for her and Ella. But I knew it wasn’t that simple.
  • I took another deep breath before finishing the rest of the tea. I thanked Mrs Henderson and watched as she cleaned the cup. We said our goodnights and she headed off to the room she sometimes stayed in in the apartment. My penthouse apartment was getting crowded. Admittedly, it was huge - six bedrooms and seven bathrooms with each room having its own bathroom and one extra bathroom that also served as a powder room for guests. But with myself occupying one bedroom, Joan the second, Malia and Ella the third, Mrs Henderson the fourth and the live-in doctor and nurse I had employed for Joan’s recovery occupying the last two rooms, there was no more space.
