Chapter 4

  • Jay bursted into the entrance of his opulent, tastefully decorated flat. After furiously dropping his car keys on the living room's center table, he proceeded to the bar area to retrieve a bottle of whisky.
  • “How could she? How on earth could she?” he yelled and took a large gulp of the whisky aggressively.
  • “I must have been a fool to have been played for this long!” he cried, running his fingers through his hair, making it look like a mess.
  • Rose has consistently proven to be unfaithful, within their two years of relationship. She had constantly pleaded for his forgiveness, and he would always grant it, hoping that she would change, but it never stopped getting out of control.
  • “Look at me, already making plans to wife that bitch while she’s out there messing around,” Jay said angrily as he took off his Jacket.
  • Tossing it without caring where he would land, he roared, “Noooo!”
  • He didn't deserve such heartbreak from her because he had only been kind and caring towards her; He had taken care of her, made sure she was comfortable, and helped her live the life she had always imagined, even paid for her master's degree, her brother's college tuition, and helped her family move out of their cracked old house.
  • He filled another glass of whisky and took a big sip of it.
  • “Never ever! Not once! Not twice, would I have hurt her and rub it at her face like this,” Jay screamed.
  • Rose came in just immediately, trying to express her regret on getting caught for the third time.
  • “Speak of the devil,” Jay sounded mockingly.
  • “Jay, I'm sorry. I promise you, I can explain,” Rose said as she moved closer to him.
  • “Explain? Oh! I'm listening, tell me…. What can you explain exactly? That I caught you kissing another man? A man old enough to be your father, in such an open space,” Jay queried in annoyance as he looked her in the eyes.
  • “I—it…Jay please calm down. This is the last time, I'm changed already,” she claimed, barely able to look at him in the eyes.
  • “Rose?” Jay called as held her face up, like he was about to plant a kiss on her lips.
  • “Y—Yes baby,” she replied shivering with pretense.
  • “You disgust me!” he yelled right into her face, pushing her aside to make way for himself as he was moving upstairs.
  • “Nn—No Baby, I’m so sorry. It’s not what you think,” she spoke rushing to grab him and rubbing her fingers against his upper body and muscles.
  • “Don’t..Don’t touch me, don’t you ever touch me!” he yelled.
  • Yes, she must have assumed that it would be like other times, when she would apologize with sex and he was quick to forgive.
  • Jay wasn't having any of that; this time, he was prepared to make an audacious decision.
  • “It’s over!” he said amidst his hurt.
  • “Uhn…What do you mean?” Rose asked pretentiously with a cry.
  • “You and I, We’re over! I can’t keep up with you in this relationship. I can’t keep up with your infidelity, you bitch!” he roared at her.
  • “No Jay, that's not possible. Look I promise you, It’s never going to happen again…. I don’t know what gets over me every single time,” she made a finger through his shirt buttons trying to unbutton them, pushing her lips at his to give him a kiss.
  • “Stop it!” He shouted with immense fury, pushing her away and making his way to his room.
  • “I don't want you in my house by the time I’m back downstairs. So, pack your belongings and get out!” he ordered, moving hurriedly out of the sitting room with his suit Jacket.
  • “Please baby, nooo… I'm sorry!!!” she cried out, hoping he’d change his mind.
  • She had never wanted her relationship with Jay to end in this manner. For once, she understood how much Jay had loved her all along, how he had felt about her since the moment he first laid eyes on her. He was her ideal man.
  • They had first connected at a dinner and get-together party about more than two years ago, where she was hired as a waitress for the night. As she went to get a drink for his table, she couldn't help but noticed how intensely his gaze was fixated on her.
  • He had made sure to collect her contact information after the party, and ever since then, they had become good friends and started dating.
  • “I won’t allow anyone take Jay away from me! He's mine and nothing can stop that. I'm sure he'll come along,” she thought as she took a sit on the couch.
  • Was she ready to change? That, she doesn't even have an answer to. All she knew was that her dream life of ease and affluence which she had experienced because of Jay is about to come to end and she won’t watch it happen.
  • ************
  • It was about nine o'clock at night. In the hopes that Jay was over everything that had happened earlier that day, he tried to sleep a bit.
  • Just as he was about to sleep, a call came in and it was his mother, but he had ignored it, as he wasn't in the right mood to talk to anyone or take a call.
  • She was persistent and called right back after the first time.
  • “Oh my God, can’t it just wait till morning?” he asked, stretching his hands to reach out for the phone.
  • “Hey Jay, can you come over to the house baby?” she asked, sounding like it was quite urgent as soon as he answered the call.
  • “Mum, please can’t it wait? I'm too tired to drive, I’ll see you first thing tomorrow morning,” he said.
  • “No, it can't. Something came up and I need to discuss it with you right away,” she urged.
  • “Okay Mum, you can as well tell me on the phone.” Jay insisted.
  • “No! Jay, Come home right now!” she demanded and ended the call just immediately.
