Chapter 28 A New Beginning

• I never imagined a single day could change everything. That day in Jake's office, when the world outside seemed to fade away, marked the beginning of something I never thought possible. Jake and I, once sworn enemies, were now inseparable. Our moments together were no longer forced but cherished. We started hanging out together, not just for the sake of the Montgomery contract, but because we genuinely enjoyed each other's company.
• Jake was different now, even when we hung out together. He no longer gives me less attention, like he used to do. But will always stay glued by my side, making me the envy of most girls. Well, most girls thought Jake was a playboy. He also became lighter, and more confident. And, slowly but surely, he was regaining control of his company. That change was a transformation that surprised everyone, especially Mr Montgomery. Given the scandal that had rocked JK y, we both expected Mr Montgomery to take drastic action. The contract terms were clear, any public nuisance record on either of us would lead to the termination of the contract. But, surprisingly, Mr Montgomery hadn't done anything in that regard. It was as if he was waiting, watching, and perhaps even hoping for a different outcome.
• Clara too, my best friend. She was relentless in her curiosity. She had gone with me that day to Jake's office. When I left Clara at the reception hall and went to see Jake alone, Clara had waited for me for what seemed like an eternity, and had gone home expecting me to call. But I didn't. I couldn't tell Clara such a thing, not on the phone. Besides, the emotions of that day were too enormous to put into words. So I couldn't open up to my best friend.
